Arrow Valkyrie Profile Sugestions?

Hey .. New to PSX emulation since i have always just played the games on the console.

I have every intention of finishing this game so i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the best settings. Heres my specs...

Sempron64 1.6GHz @ 2.6GHz
1024 OCZ DDR400 @ DDR500 2.5-3-3-8
Radeon 9550 128MB

I'm currently using..

SSSPSX 0.0.34 with
Pete's OpenGL2 2.8 (pressed Nice, changed the resolution to 1280x1024 and added 2xSal)
Eternal SPU 1.41 (with VP boxes checked)

I just watched the prologue and intro and it was alright (minor sound issues). Very playable but would just like to know if theres a better plugin/settings i could use before i sit here for hours playing :P

Thanks

Those sound pretty good. What's the audio out method and buffer size set to in Eternal? Is it like a popping or clicking sound?

defaults at audio out=Thread and buffer size=64

Not really a click or a pop .. Just a tiny glitchy skratchy sound from time to time .. It's very minor

Try setting it to SPUasync, with the async mode set to Simple. Try it at 64 and if the scratching goes away, lower the buffer until it starts scratching again. I have an Audigy 2 Value and I'm able to lower the buffer to 22 using SPUasync, and it sounds clear and very responsive due to the low buffer. I remember when I had onboard audio, I had to keep it around 60.

I have the cheap Audigy 24bit card so ill give that a try.

EDIT: Seems better with SPUasync and a buffer of 32

Thanks

The only odd thing left is when the "camera" pans its kinda jerky like a badly encoded anime

Heres a screen of where its happening

(taken with pSX 1.8)

EDIT 2: Damit! Crashed on me hehe.. Maybe ill wait till i get my PS2 back

Try PSX 1.9 for that game I would suggest, it should run it smooth as silk (it did for me). As to a slight jerk when the camera pans, there is a certain amount of that that the REAL psx has, especially with FMVs and 3D textures.... the screenshot you gave is rather small, any chance of something bigger? I can't make anything out from that.

for me, p.e.op.s. soft driver give the best gfx results, which is almost exactly the same as what pSX gives.

I am unaware of pSX 1.9 .. Tryed 1.8 and it seemed ok but the set-up I'm using in SSSPSX looks and plays far better (other then the crash heh). The pic wasn't to show anything other then the part in the game where the "jerkyness" occurs nothing more. I guess i was looking for "pefect emutlation" and this isnt possible yet for PSX. Well its not %100 possible with any emulators i have tryed but ZSNES and Kega come dam close

It all depends on the game. I still get crashes in (stable or WIP) ZSNES from Star Ocean.

Kinda ironic though I was just about to restart playing this game again too, but I looked up in the attic at my old PSX games and I can't find it. I'm a very organized person so this is pretty weird. Can you say "Gank!" :c
