The universal settings, for all comps and games

Ok, i made il research, and these settings runned six games from six, and i doubt that any other would refuse if you have over recommed... these will work in recommed machines so...

EMU: SSSPSX 0.0.34, secondary for SSSPSX incompatible games, like FF9 ePSXe 1.5.2, 1.6.0 is slow...

GPU: Petes ogl 1

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.76
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: Microsoft Corporation
GFX card: GDI Generic

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - NO desktop changing [16 Bit] OR [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8B8A8
- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: on
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 2
- Framebuffer texture: 2
- Framebuffer access: 0 If card takes it, read & write mode, i dunno what good it is...
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: on
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

IF your game requires, use gamefixes...

Sound, Eternal SPU full, 501 mhz machine does still run great because core emu is SSSPSX, the full E-SPU fixes MDEC broplem in SSSPSX settings:

Direct sound, buffer size 48 or 64, better sound, if sound chops or something, try 26. ASYNC SPU with SMOOTH, if game requires fix tick it, they wont make other games bad...

In epsxe tick all but the under one, you ticked it in Eternal...

in SSSPSX, Internal CD plugin, too bad it doesn´t play CDA sound, but in all else best 4 SSSPSX, only cd plugin what worked out to change MGS special missions (PAL-E) CD´s when all other emus sain wrong disc.

IN ePSXe:

Peopes cd-r driver, First, you must choose one for your OS, 98, or xp, BUT DO NOT USE RAW READING! Also, best way to get mode, is after choosing drive, make autodetect. well, then, Try speed limit. Some games need this, and rest work better with this one in 2x, really couse the original ps had 2x drive, use it in 2x mode...... Wait drive to be ready, Check if games won´t work, i don´t use it... Try again in read error, yes, makes it better... Make annoying noisy goodfornothing note in raderror, nope, thanks. Load PFF file, use ePSXe´s own autoloading, more info in ePSXe´s help file. Subchannel reading, nope, if you encounter copyprotected game, get a PFF patch.

PAD (in SSSPSX): newest SSSPSX PAD plugin what you can get.

EDIT: updated after little research.

THESE WERE UNIVERSAL SETTINGS FOR ALL GAMES AND ALL MACHINES, remember that...

wow, just wow.

1. you're using generic microsoft drivers. so all your hardware acceleration performance is going to be crap. get some real drivers.
2. you havent discovered anything. it's been around for YEARS. it's called the NICE PRESET, it's been built in to Pete's plugins since before i even knew that PSX emulation existed.
3. have you even compared Eternal Lite to Eternal? the sound difference is vast. and Eternal Lite is only for CPUs that are less than 1ghz, actually probably down to 600 (if a P3) can use regular Eternal.
4. it's pretty funny that the hardest to configure plugin you listed (Peops CDR) is the only one for which you did not provide settings. i used default settings in Eternal for so long until i did spuasync and it worked fine. Pete's plugins have the Nice preset. but peops, the most confusing PSX plugin (perhaps tied with Lewpy's) is the one that you decided was too easy to post a config.

lol, I see from the other thread that this is not for all games...

Anyway every game needs different seetings, if it would be that easy to
find out universal settings no one would be posting here asking for help.

ok, i think Pete will be glad to know that the "Nice" preset that he put into his plugins (meant to work with most games) is doing its job.

seriously, do you understand what i'm saying? you havent discovered anything. press the "nice" preset and see if any options change.

by the way, having frame skipping on is a bad idea.

As hushy said, it's going to suck unless you install some video card drivers.

AS I SAID, i allready have had ALLWAYS the newest GeForce 2 Ti drivers, and clicking the nice configuration makes games slow in my computer. And for your info, those "allmighty" drivers doesnt even recognize my Geforce 2 ti card... i have newest what i got in disc. Also i got fix for the ssspsx MDEC trouble, i had to fix it by myself... the ehing was in PAL format, what japanese SSSPSX can´t handle so good, fix was to play game, if it was PAL, in 60 FPS, and then mdecs in MGS are good. allso sound skipping in mdec was fixed by using full Eternal SPU, not lite.... I got thru the game with lite, but ending mdecs with my old configuration was.... hell...

The title is very misleading. There is no such things as universal settings, as different graphic cards work better with different plugins, different versions if windows require different CD access methods, etc. Besides, people with hunkier machines will prefer to give some nice makeup to their games, it sure is nice playing with a better looking game.

Oh, and by the way, when i had a geforce 2 nvidia's drivers worked like 400% faster than microsoft ones. Just make sure to get some old version better suited for your card, like the 37.82 dets.

i still hasn´t got any idea of drivers, i got version 5. something from MSI cd, even as i dunno what vendor MY card is, the cd was from friend. Mislieding or what, yeah, CD access is differen´t, but SSSPSX internal doesn´t need any configurating, and P.E.Op.S CDR plugin tells what access to use depending on system, and it can autodetect read mode.

And this is how games will work, JUST work, PPL can makeup own games then.

No, you don't have the proper drivers installed, otherwise it wouldn't say Microsoft/GDI Generic for the make/model of your card in OGL. nVidia drivers have had OGL support for a long time. I never install drivers from the CD, they're usually outdated and crappy.

I recommend this driver or this one. Uninstall your current ones, boot in safe mode, clean out the old drivers using DriverCleaner, reboot normally, install new drivers, reboot, and you're done. That should get OGL working properly.

it would help, yes, but as i said, for some reason other driver pack just wont detect the Geforce 2 titanium. I am NOW downloading both, and check will it help. CD drivers have worked allways tough, atleast theyre not Windows drivers, heh. thanx, ill try this n_...something. n_n

EDIT: i haven´t got any OGL issues yet, none. THE issue has bee in DirectX. for some weird reason, DX has been slow. Project64, ePSXe, and all. DX is slow. EVEN sims2 is working only in avarage of 15 FPS, and MGS2 Substance pc version is slooow... well i try.

one more EDIT: WTF? these drivers are installing?? when i try to select the drivers and so it says "there is no card detected" but these... Newest one works, thanx.

You mean DX is slow with the new drivers I posted or the old ones? I could see PJ64, Sims 2 and MGS2 running slow on the computer, and using DX plugins with ePSXe is a poor choice anyways.

Yeah, probably the fastest ones you'll get would be the 30.82's I posted above, however since they're rather old they might not work well with newer graphics plugins or with the Sims 2. If so, you'll have to compromise a little speed for newer drivers.
