I have a GeForce 8800 GTS with the newest drivers and I'm getting "missing shader extensions" and "missing GLSlang extensions" errors whenever I try to use the shaders. The paths are set up correctly and I have screen filtering checked and the right shaders selected. I also tried allocating only one processor core to ePSXe but that didn't work either. Any suggestions?

you do have a "shaders" folder located in your plugins directory right? im assuming you do. what custom shaders are you trying to use? what are the two extension types that the files have (they will be either .fp/.vp or .slf/.slv)?
basically what you need to do is find in the shaders folder, there are two files called "gpuPeteOGL2" with the matching extensions (either .fp/.vp or .slf/.slv) to the two files you are trying to use from your shader pack, just replace them with the custom ones. in other words, if you are using an .slf/.slv pair for example, look for the files called "gpuPeteOGL2.slf" and "gpuPeteOGL2.slv" and replace them with the two custom files called "gpuPeteOGL2.slf" and "gpuPeteOGL2.slv" that are from the shader pack you want to use.

Yeah, I have a shades folder located in my plugins directory. I first tried ShadX's Natural Vision, which came with both .fp/.vp and .slf/.slv, so I unzipped both sets into the shader folder. Then I tried the Bump Map shader, which came with .fp/.vp, which I also unzipped to the shaders folder. I'm assuming these are the custom files you are talking about. There was nothing in that folder before, as I had to make it. I don't know of any default files called "gpuPeteOGL2".

ok this is what my shaders folder looks like. what i did was i had downloaded the guest shader pack and extracted everything, thats where all those files came from and the sub folder you see there is where all my shaders from the guest pack are stored. in this particular shot the two circled files are the replacement files i mentioned earlier for the advanced cartoon shader. once all that is in place, in the config i went to the "..." in the shaders section and pointed it to this directory, and then selected the option for the appropriate shader type (.slv/.slf).
i suck at explaining this but hopefully that is good enough to give you the basic idea of what you are doing for the whole process. if none of that works you might want to double check and make sure your drivers are up to date because i think that can lead to those error messages as well for some people.

you should be fine, however there is a issue between ATI's catalyst drivers and the OGL plugins. there are two ways to get around this, the first being to downgrade your drivers to anything below 7.4 (where this issue started i believe, either that or 7.5). the 2nd and probably the most logical method- simply update your drivers to catalyst 8.5. i have seen numerous people, myself included, say that 8.5 fixes the OGL issue. my other system that i dont use very often has an ATI setup and when i installed 8.5 the problem went away. if you want more info read over this thread.

i think that, unless you have already done so, you would need to go to your manufactuer's website instead of ATI's and get drivers from there because they often make their own versions that have features specifically made for laptops. i have to go to alienware's to get my driver updates because the ones on nvidias site are all for desktop systems and i would imagine you would are in the same boat i am.

Normally I would be. I have a toshiba, however, and they stopped supporting XP, which I forced my LT to take because I have an all encompassing hatred of vista >>
So now I can't use those due to the lack of XP drivers. I'll figure out something, I had it before so I could use the latest ATI drivers, because Toshiba's are way behind. Thanks for the heads up on the issue though. |

i see. i wish i could do more but i dont think there is much else, at this point at least. i suggest using either a d3d or a software plugin instead of using one of the OGL's, those should work fine with your setup.

It seems to be working good with the OGL2 as long as I don't go for the shaders. they slowed it down real bad. The game in question is Xenogears. Anytime I get more than 2 mechs on screen it drops to about 10 fps. But I can hit F7 and it runs fine until the fight is over, then I just change it back. Thanks for your help
