have you directed it to look in the directory the files are stored in? just place the file pair you want to use (NOT the folder itself with them in it, you just place the two files) in the shaders directory and configure the emulator to look there.

For Xenogears (and Grandia, and Dragon Warrior 7, all of which use sprites with 3D backgrounds), my favorite is 4xGLSoft from guest's shader pack.

I'll check out how it looks. Do you most of you play full screen or desktop?

I usually play in a window instead of full screen. To my eye, 4xGLSoft looks a bit better with screen filtering on, too.

ummm im pretty sure that is english and not hard to understand...in the shader plugins package it comes with different types of cartoon plugins...i was asking if anybody knew which cartoon shader he used (advanced cartoon shader I, advanced cartoon shader II, cartoon shaders class B *class I, class II, or class III* or cartoon shader class*class I, class II, or class III*) and what shader level and settings he used

Hmmm...I tried the storybook filter for Final Fantasy VII yet there seemed to be no difference. That is, it does not look like those screenshots.

you probably do not have them set up right. go over the instructions on installing them and configuring the settings found in the video config menu again that were posted in the beginning of this thread again. also make sure your hardware meets the requirements for their use.

this sort of thing is based off personal preference for the most part, so your tastes on what looks good and what doesnt may be the complete opposite of someone else's. i suggest you just download as many as you can and test them out until you find something you like.

It looks that you can add the ShadX Natural effect to the Guest(r) shaders. Maybe it isn't exactly 4xGLSoft + Natural but the colors come off deeper now.

See attachment for shader example.

note: change val00 in the slf to change the effect level

Has anyone come up with a "film grain" type shader that could go with Silent Hill? If not, what's currently the recommended shader for that game?

I'm also curious what everyone's favorite shaders are for Final Fantasy VIII and IX.

@ from Wikipedia
"Beginning with Silent Hill 2, the series introduced the Noise Effect. It has become a staple in the series and is explained in the "Book of Lost Memories." The noise effect acts like a film grain filter, giving the game a constant sense of noise and presence, especially in the dark. This can severely inhibit the player's sight, as common objects such as pipes, walls, and posters can appear from far distances as monsters, and vice versa with distant monsters appearing as objects from a distance when not in motion."
ohhh yeah baby i'd LOVE to see a noise effect/film grain filter effect on my fav SH game-the original one hope it's possible to make shader for it and it's not too complex I hope...
