Regarding Eternal SPU plugin & FF8

Im just curious what the ff are for in the Eternal sound plugin
In the Main Sound Menu:
What do the ff do?
Enable SPU IRQ hack
In Configure:
Enable Compressor / Enable Reverb / Enable SPU IRQ / SPU IRQ Wait CPU Action

Is the Enable SPU IRQ hack same as the SPU IRQ in the configuration?
Do I need to check only one?

Funny coz I unchecked all the SPU IRQ boxes and there was no sound in the opening FMV of FF8, the one where squall and seifer fight.
But when I checked either SPU IRQ box, sound came back

Just come curiosity..Havent tested with all FF games but I believe this only happened in FF8
