Accidently made this on another forum>_< (FF9 help)

I've tried looking at FAQs and stickys around here but I couldn't get rid of the problem.

When I try to play FFIX, the game never loads. I'm using epsxe 1.5.2, I'm using Pete's OpenGL 1.76, P.E.Op.S DSound Audio Driver 1.9, P.E.Op.S CDR Driver 1.4 (And tried Pete's CDR ASPI/IOCTL Driver 1.10), and yet the game won't load.

When I change the Video plugin to Petes open GL version 2.8, and then try to work the game, it says "No WGL extensions" or something to that affect.

I've tried configuring everything to the configuration that everyone else seems to use on this site, but to no avail.

How can I fix it? Other games work -_-

Since you're from Australia, a PAL territory, I figure you're using the PAL version. This is a known CD Protection issue. Use a patch or make an ISO of your disk that includes the subchannel data.

Using the search function I found these two possible explanations:

1) That error can be rectified by updating your graphic's card's drivers.
2) Your PC cannot handle Pete's OGL 2.8. Use something else.

I've already got a UK patch for it (since Aus and UK are the same ones apparently. There are no Aus Patches..).

If you have an nVidia card go here.

If you have an ATi card go here.

Do you know how I can find out which one I've got?

I'm not really a computer wiz, sorry to say so myself.

To find out your graphics card, right click on your desktop. On the menu that opens, click on Properties (it's the last one on the list.)

This will take you to a new menu with tabs across the top of it (Themes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, Settings). Click on Settings and it will take you to a window like this:

In the highlighted area is where you will find what graphics card/device you have. Once you know what one you have, tell us what it is and we'll find what driver to get.

Okay so I got a "Plug and Play monitor on ATI Technologies Inc. RAGE 128 PRO APG", and I'm completely lost on that site.

Bah I feel like such a hassle, no wonder we were all sent to Australia away from Britain.

Would this be it: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27

I'm sorry about that. My broadband decided to f**k up at an unfortunate time. I was ready to post this when it shut off.

From what I know about that graphics card (my first PC had an onboard ATI Rage Pro Fury integrated graphics card) I'm not sure if it could handle Pete's newest OGL plugin.

But if you use Windows XP, here's your most up to date driver.

EDIT: ATI don't like direct downloading. Go here and you can see Rage 128/ Rage 128 Pro on the left.

Seeing how it was released on the 22nd October 2001, I'm guessing you may already have it.

What are the other specs of your PC? We may be able to recommend a better plugin for you if we know it.

If you don't know how to find them, right click on My Computer (on the desktop) and select Properties on the menu that pops up. The following window will appear:

Your CPU and RAM will be in the highlighted area. Get back to us with that and we'll see if we can help you a bit more.

Well that's one way of putting it. Seriously though, I'm doing nothing else right now and I like helping people out.

Use another plugin to get around the "No WGL extensions" issue. Make an ISO that includes the subchannel data (or use a patch) to get around the black-screen issue.

I just got around the entire thing by just buying the USA version. In fact, I'd recommend that as a good fix to the problem. Buy the American version, and then list your PAL version on eBay.co.uk, you'll make a profit, guaranteed.

it might work to use one of the plugins that gives a black screen and then just let the black screen stay, and maby the menu will appear after a load of time.
then just make a savestate with F1 whenever you're about to quit, and load it with F3 whenever you're starting again.

I had a Rage128 looooong ago, sorry to say that, but even for emulation,
I recommand you get another graphic card, this one only has 8MB of VRAM
and very slow clocks. Maybe the only way to play correctly with it is ti ouse Pete's DX6 or Software plugin
