Problem: I have a full-on Geforce 2 Pro at AGP, and I have full Athlon optimizers in my CPU.
Why isn't it detecting this? All drivers are latest, BIOS is as good as it gets, but it detects my system differently!
Hmm....could THIS be the reason my system isn't performing as fast as I know it should be?
How do I get it to understand I'm at AGP and have all those nifty proccessor Ops? How do I get it to detect the onboard T&L of my Geforce? This is bugging me just a bit. I shoul be able to squeeze out an extra 10 FPS...

You can try a tweak program like nvmax to make sure everything is enabled properly like you want it. And I don't believe that the plug-in is really taking advantage of the onboard t&l. As for not taking advantage of all the 'nifty proccessor Ops' how are you absolutely sure that it isn't? I see 3dnow! listed so it looks like that is detected properly. As for your caching you'd be better off setting it to 2 - dynamic.

Why? All my spritey-games seem to work better and better thanks to that?
I'm talking about the Athlon optimizations, well, maybe it doesn't use those, but it should...
Thanks for the help, I'll try it out.

Because as has been mentioned time and again dynamic caching is the most optimized cache setting while all the others have bugs in them still and are unoptimized. But if you feel that palettized is working for you then by all means stick with it. 3dnow! is an optimization available to the athlon. And unless I'm forgetting something, 3dnow! is really all that can be taken advantage of for speeding up your games.

for a performance boost, try setting opengl's buffer flipping mode to Block Transfer.
as for your system dectecting your card incorrectly...probably double check your bios settings, and try a different set of video drivers. otherwise I don't think the problem is too serious.

You do have 4X agp on in your Bios right???
seems I recall a bug with Via drivers that detected AGP cards as PCI unless the 4x setting was turned on....

BTW, Modern Duron and Athlon-based cores have not one, but TWO other CPU optimizations than 3DNow!
The new XP's have yet another one.

OK, I just want to double check that you have the 4-in-1 driver installed... you didn't mention it anywhere that you got that installed, but I thought I'd check.
