what actually is a psx? are psx and a ps2 emulator different?
im confused!

PSX - Playstation X , aka PSOne
PS2 - Playstation 2 , aka PStwo

Yes, PSX emulators and PS2 emulators are , naturally, different. PSX emulators only emulate playstation games, PS2 emulators only emulate PS2 games.
