Problems with FF8

Right I'm probably going to get a slap for this but here goes....

After trying for days trying to get FF8 to work, I keep getting these messages appearing on the screen;

1-error intialzing direct input
2-olddirectinputversion

now, i've updated my directx, reinstall the emulator and now I'm puzzled !!

Any help on this is grateful !

ok all of your plugins are way out of date, go to www.ngemu.com/psx to update them. furthermore, what version of DirectX are you using?

By the way that link for plugins don't work, so I'm going to have to take my time to get new updates.

Can you recommend any good ones for me?

use Pete's OpenGL1.75. also use Eternal1.41. for starters, use Xeven's or Sapu's CDR plugin for ease of use.

ok dokey thank you to the nice people who have helped me to established ePSXe to work. Errors still creep up ie the ones I mentioned at the start of this topic BUT I get onto the intro for FF8 (it's been sometime since I last since that !!)

However !!

My joyad doesn't want to connect or when I go to configure it and confirm changes an error box comes up saying it needs to close ePSXe asap. I'm using one of play.com dual usb playstation thingy and a PS joypad. Any help is again most welcomed !

does it work in other games/programs? try reinstalling your drivers. also, go to the control panel and the Gamepads panel thingy and calibrate it.

Well i've taken it out and put the usb thingy back in and everything looks ok. It automatically configures in XP BUT this is the problem !!!

I cannot select joypad in the main ePSXe screen as it keeps crashing

So my head hurts back to the experts to think about it !

Ah HA !! My brother solved the problem through remote assistance and apparently I was missing one file even though the file cannot be deleted. It pays to have a brother that half works for microsoft!

Many thanks to all those who helped me in this quest for another shot at FF8

Cheers Guys ! (or Gals?!)
