Thanks to OP for settings that fixed my battle swirl. 65 FPS was a little too fast for correct battle music speed and whatnot. Trying to slow it down just a tad... fantastic. Thanks again!

- RT

edit: just for the record, I changed my FPS limit to 60.1 FPS and I really like it.

I seem to be having a different problem than anything else reported in here... I actually was playing through FF8 using Pete's D3D video plugin then found out about the OpenGL2 plugin. Since I have a fairly nice computer, I thought I'd try it. It looks great except when on the world map (well, the battle swirl is messed up too... but I don't really care). Some of the polygons just don't seem to be drawn. I tried several different configurations but couldn't get it to work on the plugin.

My specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+
ATI X1950 XT 256MB
Windows XP x64 (I do have a 32-bit version of XP installed if anyone thinks that's the problem...)

Here's some screenshots...

It looks like some polygons are black, but I think it's just not drawing them, and the background behind them is black.

My settings for the above screenshot.

I tried it with everything turned off and got the same result.

My settings for the above screenshot.

It looks fine with Pete's D3D Plugin (but the game doesn't look as good...).

Any ideas? Sorry for reviving this thread, by the way.

like stated in the thread i linked, its an issue between the drivers and the OGL plugins. the most effective way that i know of right now to fix it is to downgrade your driver versions to catalyst 7.4 or below. i dont use an ATI with my current system so i dont really know if downgrading will work for sure since i cant test it firsthand but from what it looks like, it does seem to fix it but i cant say with 100% certainty that it will. other than that you cant really do much else at this point, your only other options are to use a d3d or software until this is worked out.

Actually, I "installed" the older OpenGL .dlls that were linked in that thread, and it fixed the issue without having to downgrade my drivers. Thanks, though.

Question

Hello,
I have C2D 1.66, 2GBs RAM and 8600GT 256MB. OS is WinXP.
  • My ePSXe config:
  1. What should I change for better quality (visual)?
  2. What's unnecessary? I mean what unnecessary takes performace and doesn't improve quality?
  3. Movies run too slow. They aren't extremely slow, but it's much slower than normal game. As I can see, the framerate is about 10-15 fps.
  4. How to configure vibartions on Dual Shock 2?

If it does matter, I want to play only in 3 games - Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX.

Thanks for every help.

the FF games require that compatibility be set to 1-2-2, if you want to experience the full effects, including motion blur you use 1-3-2.

FF7 and 8 require the 0x00002 gamefix to be enabled in the gpu plugin.

to use and framebuffer effects higher then 1, Rendermode must be set to 2.

you should also not use 2xSaI, or filtering at 6(3 or 4 only) since that causes discoloration along texture alpha.

Also, since your card has only a 128bit memory interface, you should not use a fullscreen smoothing filter, while the internal Y res is set to 3. One or the other, you can't have both.

you should also enable "use pixel shader for 'psx texture window' emulation"

That only appears to be needed for "you" so far 22point8, anyway, if you aren't enabling the framebuffer uploads, then you don't even need the gamefix, as the problem that the fix is made for does not occur unless framebuffer uploads are enabled.

Anyway, I've new configs for yall.

If you don't mind not having the full battle swirl set FE to 3 and FU to 0, This also means the motion blur effects will work.

If you want the battle swirl and don't mind missing the motin blur effects, use FE 2 and FU 2, and enable the 0x0001 and 0x0002 fixes.

If for some reason FU 2 causes black boxes (which it shouldn't, so it doing so indicates a buggy ICD) set FU to 0 and FE to 2, and enable the 0x0001 fix only, the 0x0002 fix isn't required as its just meant to fix some texture corruption that FU 2 causes.

Hello, I have an annoying problem. When ever I change area the character shakes, after a while this is annoying! So I was wondering if my config is okay or not.

Internal X Resolution : 1
Internal Y Resolution : 2
Stretching Mode : 2
Render Mode : 0

Texture Filtering : 4
Hi-Res textures : 0
  • Pixel Shader
Gfx card vram : 512mb

Off-Screen Drawing : 1
Framebuffer Effects : 3
Framebuffer upload : 0

(nothing in full screen filters)

Does anyone have a better config (for best visuals) and that doesn't do this annoying shaking thing?

My computer specs
Nvdia 8800GT 512mb
4GB Ram
Windows Vista
2.00GHz Core2Duo Processor

Thanks!

Use Render Mode 2, no idea about shaking.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but was wondering whether anyone had found a solution to the screen flickering problem at certain parts of the game e.g. dollet bridge, fisherman's horizon?
