Odd, I always open [PEC], select cheats, hit Send to Plugin, then open ePSXe and run the game.
I don't know why you would have to start your game first, but I'm glad you got it to work.

I open executor... then open pec.... then select cheats or press that button on top to sense the game that is in the drive and it takes me to the cheats for that game if there are any.. I enable the cheats I want and send them to the pluggin.. Finally, I just click on the game icon I want to run in executor.. Cheats also work when I load a savestate too.. Just strange how it works differently for people..

hi!

I've heared that the Dx-codetypes don't work with the actual [pec] version ... that means for Dino Crisis nearly no code should work and for Tenchu 2, all Item Modifier Codes and this stuff shouldn't work ... is that true ?
I try to find that bug as soon as possible, and fix it.

Cu, JNS

Jens Duttke I used the health cheat in dino crisis uk and it works although the weapons cheat does'nt.
FFTman09 you need to down load the pec gameshark plugin from http://pec.emucheater.com/ and put it in the plugins directory and configure it as it says in the enclosed text file to be able to use the cheats..

Right goto http://www.aldostools.com/index2.html and dload the pec edit tool.
Now goto any of the many game shark code pages like http://www.gameshark.com/ and find the codes for the games u want to add, then either import them manually into pec edit and update the pec .inf file or save the web page if theres too many codes to type in and import the html into pec edit and it will import them for you........

Hi, sorry to bring this page back from the dead, but its relevant to the problems I'm having with this now. As of now I've been tinkering with various plugins to try and get my music to run in Destruction Derby 2, I ran it using the .cue and .bin files that came with a torrent of the game. The cheat codes worked fine in it, but I had no music, just sound effects coming from the game. I did the various troubleshooting, checking the first three boxes in sound config, and downloading different plugins, but I was much too confused to try and convert the .cue into an image ISO file.

But then I downloaded an 11 part batch of files for another DD2, which had an .img file in it. I ran that with Mooby's plugin, using Run CDROM and selecting the .img file, and VOILA! I had music! BUT, now the cheats don't work! It uploads to the plugin, and there are no errors, but they just don't work! Do they only work with ISO and bin files? If so, how can I get it to work so I can have music, AND cheats?

I supect that you might have a version mismatch on those game codes. Most commonly this would be between PAL & NTSC versions but occasionally there were multiple versions of the same game for the same region. See if you can find more info about the game on the gameshark sites -- start by looking for PAL codes if you were using NTSC, or vice versa, and if that isn't it google around to find out if there were different versions released in the same region. In any of those cases you can usually find a few of the same codes made for the different versions, and that'll give you the offset you need to convert any others.

The format of your image really shouldn't make any difference in whether the music plays, regardless of the plugin, but since you are downloading these files from who knows where you may also have started out with a "ripped" version, where the CD tunes were stripped out to make the file smaller.

You already stated it: you've downloaded it... that's the biggest point in these whole story. You've got a bad dump, a rip or something like that, rip it yourself and you shouldn't have problems with your sound.
Same applies to the cheat problem: like Satori already stated you are using probably a wrong region version with codes which are for another region... you could also prevent that from happen, if you rip it yourself, because, then you definitivly know, which region version it is. You could look into the CD and search for the SL** file and compare it with the SL** file the PEC is using, that would be the best deal, to know, what's your problem. If they mismatch, you have to search for other cheats!

The [pec] cheat collections are text files. You can just use notepad to add new cheats from some website to either the user.inf or codelist.inf files. Adding codes manually avoids the garbage that comes with automatic importing, and allows you to organize them cleanly as well.

If you are referring to the lack of hotkey functionality for creating new codes within [pec] then I'm equally at a loss. I've not had much use for [pec] without the plugin hotkeys since moving to Vista (anyone got a workaround on that?) :/

The is another cheat program for PSX emulators made by Dr.Hell called CEP (I forget what that stood for). It's not as nice as [pec], but you can download it from one of the big emulator sites (including ngemu, probably) if you want to try it.

Think I'll try that alternate Cheater. I can open the User.inf in notpad but it wont let me save it.

The error messege is:
Cannot create the C:\Program Files\psx emulation cheater/user.inf file.
Make sure that the file name are correct.
