Here is the problem. Whenever I start a battle in the game, usually it fade's out and then fade it. Now while its fading out, I see the screen is turning out to be very slow and the sounds goes choppy. Then after a few choppy sounds and a very slow loading, it fade's in battle mode. Which is perfectly fine from that point. I played around with the Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.68 plugin. But it turned out to be no use
It would be nice if anyone could tell me how to fix this (ofcourse if you know what the problem is).

Well..... you could try tang a look at my site.
Failing that, give us some more information on your plugin settings and specs.

To be honest, I don't think there is much you can do. The battle transitions in FF8, because of the way they are done, are slow, even if they are 'disabled'

Aww... its no good ... the plugin seems to be even worse than OpenGL...

You could try running the game from isos and Lowering your resolution.. BTW.. Lewpys glide gpu plugin runs the battle transitions at full speed with 4xFSAA..

There might be another solution: Enable the Frameskip option in Pete's OpenGL (If you don't like it, you will want to try an older version, because it had a more Final Fantasy-friendly frameskip algorithm)
