FF9 help

okay maybe this question has been asked alot of times now... but... i never played ff9 in epsxe b4 so bare with me. remember that old thread i posted a long time ago (about the voodoo 3 card, and amd 1700+, and trying to run ff9. well that was my friend's comp), and now i'm trying to emulate the game on my pc

in every video plugin i ever use... i see no battle menu during the battles for ff9

here's my settings for peops

here's my settings for pete d3d

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Fullscreen - [16 Bit]

Textures:
- R4G4B4A4
- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: on
- Palettized tex windows: on
- Garbage collection: on
- VRam size: 4 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limit: on
- Frame skipping: on
- FPS limit: 60

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer texture: 1
- Framebuffer access: 0
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: off
- Advanced blending: none

Misc:
- Scanlines: off [0]
- Unfiltered FB: on
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Full vram: off
- Game fixes: on [00000202]

and i use default settings for E}I{'s

I have a 633mhz celeron and an integrated agp gard and what's worse... its an intel
GFX card: Intel(R) 82810 Graphics Controller

i hate my emachine, its about 2 years old now, and i want to beat it severly.

Re: FF9 help

It doesn't show up in Peops plugin as well? That's odd. Well, with pete's d3d plugin, set the Offscreen drawing to 3, I think that will helps.

I highly suggest you lose the High Res Textures unless you like watching slideshows.

Offscreen Drawing at 3
Filtering at 0 (or 6 if your PC can handle it)
Turn on Advanced Blending

Everything else is good I think.

It MUST appear in my plugin if settings are "default"

checking..... not working....

Oh, well, uncheck "reduce update lag" ..... It was intended to be "off" in default mode. My mistake, sorry.

well, thanx. you guys helped me figure out what was wrong. and the problem is fixed.

now i'm testing out the spu now. usually i don't use the spu (i use the NoSound plugin) and i just turn on my stereo

now, here's my new problem. every time i use E}I{'s, i get no sound , just sound effects and sometimes background music, but there is no sound most of the time and during mdecs. i'm new to using E}I{'s (can't you tell )

every other plugin i use runs the sound fine

I use Ethernal SPU in async/smooth mode and everything is fine. Try to mess with buffer size, check sound card drivers(they often can cause problems) In my plugin use FPS limit with smoothness of 4-5, don't use frameskip. also don't use "max speed when still" because it will screw up timings in FF9 when you press pause button.also disable logging & both special fixes. for FF9 Software blit + use 320x240 is optimal IMO.
