help with FF9 PAL

I've gotten the ppf patches, and set videosettings acording to what Lord Kane says will work (on his site).

It's all nice and good until I get to the start screen, I press "New Game" and you hear that confirmation sound. the screen goes black, the cd-rom spins up, and then down, the thing won't budge after that. however, when I press "start", the "Pause" sign shows up in the middle of the now black screen.

I've also had the sound mess up, when in the opening cinema, it randomly goes like this (it ain't easy to describe, but I will): dudduddudduddudduddudduddudddu.
and it won't stop!

Help?

You need to make sure that if you are using Pete's pugins, you don't set framebuffer access to reads and writes.
