Idea for Pete's Plugins

OK, here's an idea that might be of some use for Pete's plugins. Why not add an option which will save the current configuration to a file? Also there would be an option which will restore settings from a file as well.

I'm thinking of situations where you have to change GPU settings for every game that you play - I can never remember what works best for me, so why not add an option so that I can save my config as 'Chrono Cross.gpu' or 'FFIX.gpu' so that when I go to play those games I can simply load the config and go rather than have to rack my brain about which framebuffer access level to use, or whether or not filtering works well.

Also this could really help from a support perspective as well. People on the boards could state their problems and people could reply with 'my settings work fine, give them a try', and post their config as an attachment. Then you could just download, load the config and try it out.

Obviously the version number of the plugin would have to be coded into the config file as well because you wouldn't be able to load old config files with newer version plugins.

I think it's a good idea. Does anyone else agree?

But wouldn't it make a little more sense to code it into the dll rather than make it a seperate app?

Well, from a support view it's a little nicer. Everyone who is using your plugins has the dll, that's obvious. Not everyone has ePSXeCutor though because it's not bundled with the plugin or the emu. ePSXeCutor is brilliant both in using multiple configs and as a method of sharing support but if not everyone's using it then it's only helping half the people out there.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, don't get me wrong. It's just something I thought I might bring up.

1. epsxecutor is offered on the epsxe main web site, and on every site which is offering epsxe, so I think it is easy available for everybody.

2. what good does it do to have such a multiple config storing in every plugin? Answer: not much... every plugin coder would need to make his own tool funcs, and of course if I want to start a game, I not even want to restore the settings of one plugin, I want to restore the settings of all plugins (and the main emu) at once.

Well.. You could try importing and exporting configs from your registry.. Then click on those when you need them..

And even the registry import and export can be done easily with epsxecutor, if you don't know how to use the Windows registry editor

but.... I'm too lazy to use epsxecutor!! (pete just build it in anyways... just for people who just want it for the graphic plugin... you have proved you can do it easily but you just wanna do a lil overkill~ some of us just want something simpler...)

If someone is not using epsxecutor thats his fault himself coz as pete mentioned its very very easily available.

And for all those so called lazy guys playing with epsxecutor is easier and simpler than playing with epsxe (you need just one more click).

"just want it for the graphics plugin ?"

What do you mean by that ? It doesnt makes any sense.Epsxecutor works for all plugins. If you dont know about a software better not talk about it.

All I am saying is that epsxecutor is overkill
[/sarcasm]
I will give epsxecutor another shot (I just had a tragic experiance with a really early version of epsxecutor)

edit: I used real html code lol (accepts it as real code as I have noticed...)

ehe, no problem... I just don't feel like to add something, which is already nicely available, to X plugins
