Pete's D3D plugins crash?
This is kind of strange. I tend not to use Pete's D3D plugin (OGL generally works fine for me), but since 1.59 plays SO 2 better for me in the latest version of ePSXe, I've been using the D3D plugin instead.
When I press escape to go look at another window or something and then use the continue option to return to the game, ePSXe crashes each and every time, spitting up an error (as shown in the attached screenshot). It does this in any game in both this and the DX6 D3D plugin, and also did that for at least 1.57 (haven't really looked into the other versions, but I could if I need to...). Any ideas why it's just crashing and burning with just the D3D plugins? It's not a big problem, but it's still annoying. The following is my configuration, if that may be the cause of it: Plugin: Pete's D3D Driver 1.1.59 Author: Pete Bernert GFX card: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2/TNT2 Pro Resolution/Color: - 1024x768 Fullscreen - [16 Bit] Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 6 - Garbage collection: on - VRam size: 0 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: on - FPS limit: 60 Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 3 - Framebuffer texture: 2 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: off - Advanced blending: hardware Misc: - Scanlines: off [0] - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: on - Screen smoothing: off - Full vram: off - Game fixes: off [00000020]

Try uninstalling DirectX with DirectXbuster and then reinstall it. See if it's your DirectX that's fried.
OpenGL has been a pain for me to use because I have to be in the same desktop resolution as my OpenGL res or it goes funky hay wire, Doesn't happen with 1.58. |

I wouldn't recommend directxbuster you may end up with some screwy results. I think directx is fine.
what I think you might want to do is make sure that your desktop is set to 16bit color depth. Sometimes odd things happen when you switch desktop color depths when you have an active program running. which might be causing this problem. hope this helps.

Hrm, it WAS the color bit depth. I had my desktop set at 32 for a brief while and then changed it back to 16 to fix a problem in another game, and now it works fine. Thanks.
