No voices

I have ePSXe.1.4.0, and when i first got it, i used it to play Parasite Eve. as most of you prolly kno, that game has no voice acting. but, i also tried Syphon Filter, but there were a few problems. one was the graphics, thats fine, I can handle that, but one thing i really noticed is the voices. all other sounds worked, but whenever someone went to talk IN GAME, (the FMV's work fine) they would just start, or sometimes not, and then stop talking. the sounds would loop. so, i thought it was the CD, cause its pretty badly scratched. however, i just aquired Resident Evil 3 ISO, and the same thing happens. the FMV's work fine, voices and all, and all normal sounds in game work, except for the sound for voices. I figure there must be an option on how to fix this, is there? for sound I'm using the standard epsxe internal.

any help is much appreciated thanks

First of all I would recommend you update to epsxe ver. 1.5 As for the sound plug-in, you should make sure XA sound is enabled (check both XA play and read). I think Eternal 1.2 and Pete DSound are the best sound plug-ins.

For RE-3 use accurate cd rom timing.
For syphon filter use -cdinc command line option.

And yes you better upgrade to epsxe 1.5
