Xenogears configuration help

Hello. I've been playing Xenogears on psX for awhile and switched to ePSXe tonight for the enhanced graphics. Anyways, aside from minor slowdowns, some cutscenes(not the animated movie scenes) bring my fps down to about 10 and I can't seem to figure out why.

Here's my current video setting:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
GFX card: GeForce 9800 GT/PCI/SSE2

Resolution/Color:
- 1280x1024 Window mode
- Internal X resolution: 2
- Internal Y resolution: 2
- Keep psx aspect ratio:
- No render-to-texture: ;#u

- Filtering: 0
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: off
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 60.0

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 2
- Framebuffer uploads: 1

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: on
- Screen filtering: on
- Shader effects: 5/3
- Flicker-fix border size: 0
- GF4/XP crash fix: on
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

Other plugins:
Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41

Playing using a ripped ISO and not off the CD.

[edit] I could've sworn I had a signature with my computer specs..

Yea, the render mode is set to 2. Not sure why it pasted as a Japanese character.

The ePSXe version I'm using is 1.7.0.

Alright, I set the framebuffer upload to 2. I'll try it out and see if it slows down again while playing and post the results here. Thanks guys.

[edit]

Setting the framebuffer upload to 2 actually slowed down my game noticeably and the FPS drops constantly.
