Final Fantasy 9 Problem
Hi guys! I've just defeated Necron (the game boss) but while viewing the ending FMV sequence, the game freezes. The game freezes specifically on the part where they just got transported outside of the Iifa Tree. It says on the cmd "spu: unknown reverb". What could be problem? Thanks!

Odd... that type of error usually doesn't cause a freeze. If the freeze is related to that error (making it an emulation problem), you'll be better off reporting it at the official forums and hoping it gets fixed in a later version. If the freeze is from your disc, you may want to try playing in a different drive, cleaning/repairing/replacing the disc, or ripping the disc to a disc image (ccd/img/sub would be best, though mdf/mds would be fine too). Using the -r may also help, though if the problem is directly related to that error, it may not help.

I used a ripped image of my cd's to play throughout the game. I also tried using the original Disk 4 CD but to no avail. Anyway, thanks a lot. Since I still have an idea of the ending when i finished it way way back, i just read game scripts and watched ending videos to fill me in again.

chickenchaser, it helps if you give relevant information when reporting game problems. Particularly important is the game version: if you give the game ID, you not only tell us the region, but the actual game version - there can be more than one even in specific regions, and they often have different issues.
The PAL and NTSC-J versions of Final Fantasy IX are copy protected, and there are reports (unconfirmed) that the NTSC-US version is, too - this can affect ripping them successfully. As Gamesoul Master says, it's best to use the .ccd/.img/.sub or .mdf/.mds formats for images of protected games, as these formats include subcode that pSX needs to defeat the copy protection. |
