Star Ocean: The second Story Freezes when trying to go to the items screen.

I'm playing the game and more often than not when I try to look at the items screen it just goes black and the sounds starts repeating the same part over and over. On the DOS-ish window I see 'Illegal opcode' errors. Sometimes it gives 2 or 3 different hex addresses while other times it gives the same one infinitely over and over again. I was originally using pSX v1.10 then I updated to v1.13 and I'm still having the problem. Is it fixable or do I just have to wait for v1.14 or possibly longer? Any help is appreciated.

If you updated from v1.10 to 1.13, blackhawk5193, it might be an idea to delete your configuration file (psx.ini) and reconfigure.

If, as I guess from references to a "DOS-ish window," you're using Windows, psx.ini will be in your pSX folder.

Apart from that, how are you playing the game, from a CD or an image? If you're playing from an image, Playstation CDs are often hard to rip properly; try playing from the CD. The 'illegal opcode' errors do suggest that you're playing from an image and there's a problem with it.

As a note, I've been playing this game on pSX from v1.13 to all the way back to v1.5. I have never had problems even remotely similar to this with the game. Hell, it's actually one of the games I've used to test some of my theories on problems with CEP.

Yeah, sounds like a problem with the medium to me, whatever it may be. But in case it isn't, please give the relevant information required.
