Valkyrie Profile - New Game Error

dudes... please help me out... i have this problem in playing valkyrie profile... (first of all, this is my first time to use an PS emulator... pSX is my first.) When i select "New Game" from the main menu, the game hangs, stops, halts, crashes... then, when i play music in the sound mode, it crashes too... then, when i play the prologue, when the girl starts to speak, it crashes as well... please, kindly help me... i desperately need to play valkyrie profile since i considered it my favorite rpg... i didn't have the chance to finish the game last 7 years ago because my cd was trashed... then when i finally found a seller of the cd, my ps is already wrecked... huhuhu... please help me out... valkarie profile has issues with freezing in PSX 1.11.

I recommend you use: EPSXE 1.5.2

I also recommend these plugins:

Petes Gpu 1.76 (emulates the graphics)
Eternal Spu (emulates the sound[/url]
CdrSaPu v1.0 (emulates the cd drive)

Extract those files into a folder called 'plugins' in the folder epsxe 1.5.2 folder.

A guide on how to configure and use thise emulator: here

According to the FAQ:

Quote:
The game crashes with an opcode error:
*Your CD may be corrupted. clean it off or make an ISO out of it.
*Try using a different graphics plugin
*Use a different emulator
*Don't use save states (load off memory card).
You have already tried one of the suggested ideas, Try the iso one and the one given both in the quote and by XXXHolic.

Avoid to hijack others people thread especially when your problem is not related with the one of the thread.Anyway, You got a FAQ here which can basicly answer to most of your questions.

Quote:
Q. How do I use commandline switches?
A [NEW]. Try pSX Frontend.
A [OLD]. Create a shortcut to psxfin.exe and edit it so that you have a space and then the commandline switch in Target field. Alternatively, you can create a shortcut to cmd.exe in the directory that you have psxfin.exe in and edit the properties so that the Start in field is empty. Press OK, and run the shortcut. From there, you can type in psxfin.exe -whatever -switches -you -want.
Don't forget that the emu comes with a readme too.

didn't really help me... a tried using iso, different graphics (i mean all of pete's plugins), used pSX, ePSXe, and PCSX... all didn't work... pSX and PCSX crashes when i select "New Game", then ePSXe gives the opcode error i flashed above..

If I remember correctly you already had this problem.
An opcode error can be caused by many things including a scratched cd , a bad iso or even a faulty cd/dvd reader. I already asked you if you have tried with another PC. If you encounter the same issue we will partially know if yes or no your cd reader or the actual cd is bad.

RedLion is right, when you get an Opcode 'blablah' error where people usually don't, in most cases it's a corrupt ISO or badly scratched CD... could be a crappy CD drive too, but it's all related to read errors
