saving on harvest moon and xenogears

heya, i just download and use the emulator to play my old ps1 cds.
i try dragon seeds, i can save fine on the memorycard i have made.
but when i play xenogears, when i choose a block to save it says save failed, please try again.
and when i play harvest moon, when i choose to save it crashes ._.
any1 know how to fix this?
i read the thread below about formating, but when i access memory cards is it automaticly formated? because my dragon seeds data still there when i enter, if its formated it should be gone or something no?
thanks for the help guys ^^

If the memory card is unformatted, accessing it through the BIOS will format it. If the memory card already contains something, accessing it through the BIOS won't erase its content.

Make sure you have memcard files in your card folder.

yeah i have exactly the same problem (with xenogears too, i didn't try with other games). I do have created my two memorycards and put them in "cards" . and "save has failed, please try again" ... that's quite boring. I tried to put off the read-only of the cards folder, as i read it on another topic, but once it's done, the read-only comes back. :s i don't know what to do else... change the memory cards extention from .bin to .mcr ? And i can't try epsx because it doesn't work fine with me, so i must play with psx1.8. please help!

@iwao72: Probably not a good idea to raise a dead topic like this, but meh... what's done is done.

Gonna need a bit more info from you on the problem. Like... what's the Game ID of the game (there should be a file in the root directory of the disc that has a name like SLUS_xxx.xx or SLES_xxx.xx, where those 'x's are numbers... give us the name of that file). Also, are you trying to play the game from an original disc or an image? And have you tried going to GameFAQs, downloading one of their saves, converting it to .mcr or .mcd format with a converter program, and then seeing if the game at least loads one of those saves?
