I was playing resident evil 2 on psx 1.8 and quick saves and quick loads are working fine.But when I want to put a save game on the memory card,it says the memory card needs to be formated.Then the emulator blocks and I can't do anything.Can anyone help me with this?

You can format your memory cards by setting them on their respective slots and accessing them through the BIOS. They will be automatically formatted this way.

What do you mean by RESPECTIVE SLOTS?

It means that you must select a memory cards to use (in options) and then run a BIOS and access the memorycards.

Ok.Thanks a lot.I will try that later.Usually I am using ePSXe 1.6.0 but I was just curious how pSX 1.8 works.

Im having the same problem, I used PSX even to create memory cards, and when i try to format them the DOS window states that the format/creation failed, please help.

Well, the standard procedure would be running the emulator, opening the "File > Configuration > Memory cards" tab and typing the name you want for your memory card along with the desired extension. After that, you should close the emulator (just to make sure) and run it again without inserting any game -- that should lead you to the BIOS screen. There, you should select the "MEMORY CARD" option and, once it's open, your memory card would be formatted. So... is that what you actually did?

No, I used a differend emulator PSXeven to create the memory card file, and then tried to use pSX to run said file. Ill try using pSX to create them, I did not know that pSX could crete its own memory cards.

ARGG nothing works. when I created a memory card call "memorycard1.bin" and try to save i get the error "an error occured while accessing MEMORY CARD. processing interuped. the error mesage was generated by the game. Is there a certain extention I should use when creating memory cards for pSX? BTW the game is Valkrie profile

Well, I see you posted on two different threads with the same subject, but I'll follow this one.
You'd better create memory cards with the .mcr extension, once both pSX and ePSXe support it. This way you can "swap" emulators when one of them doesn't let you pass through a certain part of a game supported by both. Anyway, always check if you actually clicked on "Apply" and then on "OK" after typing the desired name for your memory card; it's known that pSX may not accept some commands if you don't do that. Also check the other thread you started for hushypushy's advice -- that can help, maybe.

Memory card saves in Resident Evil 2 just don't work afaik. When I tried to load a memory card save for RE2, it freezes. Hopefully this will be fixed in future versions.

I wish i could use epsxe, but for some reason i cannot configure the graphics plugin. when i go into the menu and thry, none of the plugins that i downloaded even appear as options, and sincce PCSX screws up every thrit minuites of play, and cant play the battles, im stuck with good old pSX, the only one that i cant get memory cards working.

damnit nothing works, maybe i should just swich to a differend one...

Checking one of the compatibility lists for pSX available, it seems that you have to start the game with a memory card already inserted, or else you won't be able to save your game in the future... I don't know if that's the case here, though.
