valkyrie profile memory card problem

I have a problem with psx 1.13 emulator when playing valkyrie profile
Whenever i try to save on a memory card i get an "error accessing memory card data"

i've played the game up to chapter 8 with only pSX quick saves
however i encountered a bug with Gandar sequence where the game freezes

The only solution i found for it is to use a different emulator for that sequence, but for that i need the memory card to work

It's my first time using the emulator, but it did do the following:
go in to configuration and create the 2 new memory cards by writing their names
then i went in to bios and card editor to format it however i didn't really see anything happening about formatting so i don't really know if it did

is there anything else i need to do?

its because you didn't format the memory card before use, and now the savestate keeps loading a non formated memory card.

the exact process is layed out in the FAQ, it should work provided you follow it correctly.

Valkyrie Profile is an extreme example of the problem... you always should use memory cards as your primary method of saving, otherwise problems can arise. Problems like this, and also problems with game corruption (where the game will either end up freezing at a certain point, or glitch to the point where it becomes unplayable).
