firs you have to direct the emulator so it is looking towards the memory card directory, then the two files with the .mcr extensions need to be inserted, this is done the same way only you are directing the emulator to the .mcr file itself instead of the directory its contained in. you only need to do this once (unless you manually change the default directory name or location but i dont suggest doing that) and aside from that the emulator and the memory cards should work upon startup and function the same way they would on a real psx. also make sure the memory card folder, save state folder, and the files contained in them are not set to "read-only". you can check this by right clicking the folder/file in question, go to "properties", and make sure the box next to "read-only" is unticked. basically direct the emulator to the memory card folder, then direct the emulator to the actual memory card file.

ah ic, but evrytime i set the paths and memcards i have to re-enter them over again, after i hit esc and open psx.exe the paths are set as if ive opened the program for the very first time, and yes, my folder and files are set off read-only this is horrible, played FFVII disc one, got to the save point so many times, saved, only for my efforts to be futile in the end T.T....at one point when i opened FFVII went to continue my game it said "memory card not formatted yet"- "format the card?" i hit yes, went inside to open my saved game, and it was gone. help plz...Unfortunately my problems are stil unsolved....=(

hmm this is rather strange. what O/S are you using and are you running on an administrator account? you havnt moved or renamed any of the memory card/save state directories to something other than what the defaults were have you?
edit- read over this and see if it helps.

this is so wierd, it doesnt do it on epsxe but it does it on psx T.T...WHY!!!!! lol the only problem i got with epsxe though is that the battle swirl doesnt go off, making it kinda lame -_- (in my opinion) evrytime i go into battle, i here this static like noise and the battle theme slowly goes off, once i get into battle though evrything is smooth agn. there neway o fix this? oh yea i feel kinda stupid right now, but is there a newer version of psx other than 1.13? cuz thats the one im using right now >.>.............sorry for my noobness have mercy!

hit defualt-nice in petes d3d video plugin. change the screen drawing to "shows more stuff"
well full software drawing gets slow after a few hours of playing for some reason. i use emulated v-ram myself....the swirl dosent look correct but it loads faster.

the battle swirl is a frame buffer effect and with the exception of the OGL2 plugin, i think the effect with the older plugins was dependant on the frame buffer access and in some cases the underlying problem had to do with hardware. you can try setting frame buffer access to 4. i suggest you try using epsxe 1.5.2 because it might work better with FF7.

This is not the ePSXe section of the forum. Battle swirls work fine with pSX Emulator - it isn't even an issue.
As far as saving is concerned, Final Fantasy VII is very widely played, and problems with saving (apart from games that have become corrupted through continuous use of save states) don't normally seem to occur. Therefore, the likelihood is that a saving problem in this game is due to incorrectly created memory cards, a corrupted game (save states as mentioned, damaged CDs, bad rip or downloaded image - which are frequently faulty) or a system problem. The first is solved by creating your cards correctly, the second by obtaining a good copy of the game (or restarting if it's the save state problem) and the third by correcting whatever problem it is with your system. Since the OP has neglected to say what OS they're using, despite jonc's request, it's difficult to comment constructively on that. |
