Memory Card Trouble

I've acquired pSX v1.13, the emulator works perfectly but I have a slight problem with the memory card feature.

I've been able to exit in and out of pSX and being able to load my game, but recently when I tried to load my game, it said the memory card wasn't formatted.

Now, everytime I open pSX v1.13, it creates two new memory cards, and it does not put them in the 'cards' folder, it puts them in the folder that I named, 'psx_1_13'. I've changed the settings and told the emulator to save the memory card files in 'cards', even though that setting is applied, it still creates new memory cards every time I open pSX.
