FF8 video crashing during one cutscene
i am playing FF8 off an ISO
when i get to the cut scene where the girl gets squall to dance at the party it freezes the video freezes right as the close-up of her face happens and the music continues, lpaying through the cut-scenes entire score (i haven't tried listening until it ends because i think it just eventually loops) if thsi means anything the ISO i am using doesn't run on ePSXe without extremely annoying graphical glitches as early as the pre-title screen intro video when you run the game. |

what format is the image in? have you tried playing directly from the disk to see if it gives you a different reaction?

you downloaded it then? we dont offer support for pirated material, buy the game. and that is also the cause of your issue, they are never done right because the people who make them dont know what they are doing, the .iso format is the last format type you would want to make an image of a psx game in.

psx images should be done in either .bin/.cue, .ccd/.img/.sub or mdf/mds. and just so you know, never bother to convert an image that is already in .iso format into one of the formats i listed above because the specific data types the .iso format does not support will still be missing in the new format after the conversion. whenever you make an image do it from scratch instead of converting from one format to another.

Actually, onthefence928, of the formats jonc2006 suggested, .ccd/.img/.sub and .mdf/.mds are favourite because they include the subcode from the original CD, which pSX reads directly. This is essential for defeating copy protection, which pSX can defeat without your having to patch your game or record extra files from the CD if you use those formats - AFAIK it's the only Playstation emulator that can do this.
If a Playstation game isn't protected, then theoretically, since subcode isn't needed, .bin/.cue should work just as well. Oddly, though, when I used to use ePSXe, I found that .img images always worked better than .bin ones - go figure.
