Saga Frontier - saving issue

Hello, new to the forum, but I stumbled across it when trying to setup my PSx Emulator and found a lot of helpful information. I've checked the FAQ and tried a basic search, but haven't really found anyone with this same problem, and if it's a repeat I apologize.

Saga Frontier loads fine and plays fine on the emulator, my issue arises when I try to save. It will get to the point where I pick which block of data to save in and the game will stop responding. It doesn't freeze because the music still plays and objects move in the background, but all controls become unresponsive and I cannot load or save and am forced to reset. Has anyone ever had this issue before or knows what's going on?

I am using v1.13 I believe and no mods as far as I know, straight out of the zip file. Is this an issue with my setup or perhaps the rom itself? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i suggest trying a different emulator first like epsxe or pcsx, that will really tell you if it is related to psx or to something else.

The problem is fixed when I tried loading it on ePSXe. I'll try a fresh download of PSX and see if that will fix my problem.

Edit: I tried redownloading and the it didn't fix the problem. Any ideas on what I can do to get PSX to work with this?

the next best thing to do here would be to find out if this is a game specific issue or if its present in anything you play on psx. so do you have any other games aside from SF that you can test on psx to see if their saving systems work?

I'm not really sure if this relates to the Saga Frontier but I remember someone said that you need to save on the memorycard in slot 2.

This worked, if I don't load the memory card in slot 1, it works fine. Thanks so much!

Question

How do I not load mem card 1?

Nevermind. I figured it out. I just had to eject the card.
