FF7 freezing
In the Temple Of the Ancients, when I try to pick up the Luck Plus materia, the game freezes. I have duplicated this over and over. Thank God I saved right before trying to pick this up.
I have seen a few other glitches. When I went to the cave of the sleeping man, the game initially froze when I went to talk to him. In the Gold Saucer date with Aeris, after Cait Sith had stolen the Keystone, when I asked him his real name, there was a box with Japanese characters in it. The game progressed normally though. I know emulators are a crapshoot of sorts, but have these (or other similar) problems been reported before? Could using Gameshark codes with CEP be the cause? I've been using the save anywhere code, as well as no random battles when I don't feel like being bothered by them. |

Yes, CEP is the cause. That much I should've warned you about. I noticed the problem on my current playthrough. There are just certain points (that sleeping man problem being one that I too encountered) that will free if you have any codes active at all. Turning off CEP and then reloading your game will fix the problem. Save often, and whenever one of these problems comes up, turn off CEP and restart to get past the point.
I actually also noticed this problem when using Mr. Dolphin to get up onto the tower. Whenever I actually got up there and started the climb (I mean right after he places you on the beam), the game froze. It took me quite a few times to realize the problem. I also noticed at times that the game froze similarly if I tried talking to a certain person (like the sleeping man or Priscilla while in her house), and I noticed that not only did turning off CEP work, but simply making sure that I was standing still before hitting O to talk to them helped too. The Gold Saucer problem, I didn't have... though I might've had codes off at that time for lack of need. Either way, I didn't report these problems because, simply, I forgot to. But you are not alone. So yes, turning off CEP to get past those points is your best solution.
