I made some changes to improve the overall responsiveness of the plugin. v0.4r3 is on the first post.

Hm... the disc status detection code is somewhat experimental, it might not work with your drive's driver. :/

it crashs mu emu when there is no disc in the drive--edit: in the consell it says illegal disc(Fixed)

it reports that it should run with a cd and a dvd

ill run some other test

v0.5 is up. I only have 2 cd based ps2 games around, one worked, but the other goes back to bios every time.

1 bug i see is if i start the emu with no game in then insert the game and try to load it from the browser it crashes after a few seconds.
if i start the emu with the game in it give give a few different aparently random problems, 1 is a crash that prints the following in the output:

after this it crashesother times it just repeats the "*CDVD Disk Open" loop several times then hangs.

my cd went back to bios---it seems by the look of the output that it reset itself

DVD goses back to bios as well (these tests are done after the bios has booted)

DVD in drive when bios was launched---it crashed into a black screen just after it said Playstion 2 and the last thing the output says is the disc detection thing

CD in drive when BIOS starts---it gose to mcard and disc selection menue afterdisplaying Playstion 2 the last thing it said was the CDVD.KEY thing

Sorry for some reason it seems I totally broke the plugin in the last changes and nothing works properly anymore. :/

Hi^^ the plugin is really great!
Just want to ask:

Why is the dvd-drive-speed so low (max. 4x) ?
The transfer-speed is far to low to play with a dvd, it take to much time to load something; this makes pcsx2 often crash...

Does this something to do with the random read or what?
I had this problems with all dvd-plugins i know... I have a LG-HD-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N (crossflashed to H12N)-> the transferspeed is not that bad @16x but 4x or even 2x sucks...

Hope there's a solution (i tried already drive-speed-up-tools)
With DT such problems don't exist, but i don't wanna burn every time a new image on my hdd, cause its really full (just have 50 of 500gigs left) and i have ocer 50 PS2-games---> of course i have a ps2-slim^^

slow loading does not make the emu crash, the ps2 only had a 4x drive, making it any quicker woulde kill emulation

GothicIII: The disc slowness is cause mainly because of the automatic speed switching of the drives. The drives are generally idle, and not spinning, so when you start reading key keep spinning up. the more you read the more they spin up to give better speeds, but that also means they PAUSE while spinning up, so the result is you don't get constant speeds at 4x, but 12-16x bursts with bigger pauses in the middle.

That's why peops has an option to limit the speed on the drive itself, so it will get speeds similar to the expected ones, making everything smoother.
