Question Basic PCSX2 Performance Factors

EDIT: Apologies, you closed some other thread with a simular question "not the PCSX2 forum", but that forum does not appear to exist here (cannot post to it, no posts exist in it)? I am confused.

-------------

I'm thinking of installing upgrades to increase my emulation speed, but I'm not sure what the bottleneck is. I am assuming that it's generally either CPU speed or the Video Card, but is there a way to tell? While running some games with heavy 3D content, my frame rate is only 15-25%. If I upgrade the CPU to quad core, and it is fully supported, my frame rate should triple (or more if I overclock it, which is usually possible to a large extent).

Does PCSX2 support Quad Core at present?
Can I tell which upgrade would be more beneficial (perhaps from debug information)?
