[AUDIO] Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Help!!!

Hi,

well... audio simply sucks in RE: Code Veronica and I can't see why.

Movies are fine with PEOPS. On the other hand, when I try to play sound is really bad (ambient is a tragedy and speakers seem robots). But I already knew that.

I knew that ZeroSPU2 should be better too. But it isn't so! Now a speaker is only half human and half robot. Okay, English isn't my mother tongue (maybe you already noticed it), but it's really hard to understand what it's said by Veronica or the injured guy at the beginning.

I can exclude a sound card driver problem: driver is up-to-date and nothing changes if I switch from a realtek 5.1 to my old sound blaster.

My PC is powerful: e6600 @3200, 8800gt, 4gb, win xp32 and vista64

Please, help!!

What sound card is it? How is your plugin set up? Take pics (alt + prntsrn) and post them here of both peops and zerospu2.

The first one is a Realtek HD Audio 5.1 from a gigabyte p35-ds3 (motherboard) and the second one is an old sound blaster live 1024.

However I choose the problem is still there (I realize I switched from the first to the second, and vice versa, because audio is slightly, slightly different).

Zerospu2 is 0.4.4 with Time Scaling.

peops is 1.9 and 1.6 (I tried both) with volume: medium, no reverb, gaussian interpolation and misc(s) disabled.

Are you using a virtual build or non? Do you have dual core support enabled along with VU recompilers? Are you running from dvd or did you make an iso?

robotic sound should be normal if the scene isnt full speed, disable time scaling if u dont like it but then it'll be cut, u could try "real time" in zeroSPU althou dunno how that would help, you could also try SPU2ghz Releases but it will have the same effect as just disabling time scale in ZeroSPU

P.E.Op.S just doesnt sound great with some games this is one of them

do you mean pcsx2T.exe? I tried both (xp->pcsx2.exe, vista->pcsx2T.exe)

yes

iso

scene is always full speed (from 97% to 102%)

you could also try http://forums.ngemu.com/ps2-plugin-q...-releases.html but it will have the same effect
I forgot it! Let's try... uhm... voice is REALLY good now, but there is no ambient sound; no steps, no fire, a light delay of the gun.

I missed it. I'll try to disable it.

Time to go bed now. See you tomorrow and thanks for the help.

Robots are still there. I wonder if who played code veronica had my same audio or I'm the only one.

I problems with sound in Veronica too (but completed it already twice ).
1)In-game sound is very-very robotic with PEOPS, so I can't use it for in-game. ZeroSPU2 is much better but is still far from perfect. Anyway I used it.
2) FMVs... They are OK with PEOPS (along with robotic sound ), but with ZeroSPU2 after 5-10 seconds they are slowing down to ~10 fps (!!!). Fullspeed with PEOPS.
3) Also you will find another problem in the end, sorry . LAST video crashes with PEOPS and SPU2ghz, but.... works with ZeroSPU2! So you have to watch the LAST_VIDEO, ending of the game in 10fps! Argh... Nothing you can do here with it.

I'll postpone code veronica until a better audio plugin will be released.

No misunderstanding, please, pcsx2 is simply amazing, but it needs a lot of work if the other "playable" game have this kind of problem.

A playable game should be really playable; minor audio or graphic imperfections and occasional decrease of fps are reasonable, but robots and the missing of the end of the game are not.

Hm. I just used quick save before FMV, and changed the pluginto PEOPS. Then quick save again and switching back to ZeroSPU2. Last video it the only prob. Anyway Iwatched it twice with Zerospu2and 10fps. So, yeah, the game is fully playable

Playable or not playable, that is the question.

Personally, I think a game with such problems can't be seen as playable, but you think it can be.

We have a different point of view, that's all.

The game can be completed, regardless of speed, hence it is 'playable'. The only thing left to work on is speed, which will steadily improve with time.

'Ingame' is used for games that cannot be completed, usually by having a point where the game tries to do something the emulator hasn't correctly implemented. Obscure opcodes, reliance on bit-perfect transformations, or even if it uses an implemented opcode in a weird way.

Well sound works perfect here in RECVX. Using ZeroSPU2 and only Timescaling is checked, no robotic sound.
