CiticenB: true, but what I was getting at was that, I personally would wait a bit till fast phenoms are available at good prices to upgrade. My friend has a X2 6400+ (black edition), 4 gigs of ram, and 2 8800GTs in SLI. I'll get him to run some tests in PCSX2 after he's back from canada and get back to you...the results should show the current (pre-phenom) max performance for an am2 system.

edit: to cottonvibes below me, thanks for restating what i just said :|
I'll post back later with the promised test results, that is all.

this is getting a bit off topic, but
the 6400+ X2 > phenom, on PCSX2 and gaming
i wanted to get a phenom, but after reading benchmarks and reviews i'm quite disapointed, especially on how intel's quad-cores beat them on almost every benchmark. and the 6400+ beats them on all gaming benchmarks.

since PCSX2 only has dual-core support, you can only use two of phenom's cores. and the phenoms are at lower clockrates, thus the 6400+ x2 will preform better.

i'm waiting though till they start releasing the phenoms at higher clockrates in order to upgrade.

directX 10 is vista exclusive, microsoft isn't going to release it for XP.

even if you have a DX10 graphics card, you can only run DX10 apps in vista.
the highest version of directX that XP supports is 9.0c i believe

so this plugin only works on windows Vista

I have a page where is the dx10 for windows xp, I thought putting it here but I do not know if i can.

Here is a quote:

"Directx 10 for XP is wanted from long time. An alpha version of it is available now. It is said to work for Windows XP and gamers should be able to play directx 10 compatible games like they play in vista. Alky Project has released a preview of Alky compatibility libraries for Microsoft DirectX 10 enabled games. This can be used for Windows Operating system other than Vista to play games which requires Directx 10. This project was aimed to make DirectX 10 compatible games to run on Non Vista operating systems."

the Alky project isn't real directX 10. it preforms directX 10 exclusive functions by using your CPU. also it is in a very early developement, so many functions arn't supported.

and for the record, i already tried the current version w/ gsdx10 and i can confirm that it dosn't work. but even if a later version does work, it wouldn't be worth it because it would tax your CPU more and eliminate any speed gains you have with gsdx10.

but lets keep this thread clean, and stop talking about DX10 for xp because DirectX 10 is Vista exclusive.

GSdx10 0.1.1 report.
In FFX works better than previous version (I can't see performance problem - but I have strong PC and I must play with FPS limit on) and Tidus cuted-head bug is gone! Good job.

But problem with striped textures after closing game menu is still here:

I have tried latest version of this plugin with Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and works great...just only some little graphics problem...but it runs great with full speed!!!
I have tried also with Dragon Quest 8, Suikoden 4 & 5 and it runs a little more faster that the previous versions, but there are many graphics problem and in Suikoden 5 if you choose Pal visualization mode, then in the game there is a vertical line at the centre of the screen. If you choose NTSC vis. mode, there isn't the line, but audio is out synchronous.

hhm so then the freezing problem is only in GSdx9?
i tried several VM and TLB builds of pcsx2 and it always freeze after some seconds till minutes dependent where you are,
but it often freeze in battles.
check mine's and RPGwizard's posts on this site: GSdx9

Does it freeze at that point for you? When you enter the screen of the stadium gate. That was always crashing in the pub release of 0.9.5, but fixed now in the svn.

(I have to add that sooner or later it freezes again somewhere )

not only at the stadium, most time in battles, doesn't really matter what battles.
as i said: i tried all pcsx2 builds i have, even the latest VM and TLB SVN builds and its always the same.

edit: i tried gsdx9 0.11.2 revision 678 and it freezed again ...

i can make a video if you want!
