Yes, I read that opengl may support the new dx10 features under xp. But I don't know opengl.

gabest would have to rewrite his plugin in order to support openGl, its not like theres a magic line of code that says "renderer = openGL;" that ports the whole plugin to use openGL

so its easier for you to get vista than for gabest to rewrite his plugin using openGL.
if you don't want vista, you can still use gsdx9 which is compatible with the 8800gt.

if speed is your issue, XP w/ gsdx9 is still faster than vista w/ gsdx10.
but i noticed some glitches in gsdx9 that gsdx10 dosn't have, perhaps in the future those will be fixed. but if not, you'll just have to upgrade to vista.
(or you can always do a dual-boot with the operating system. thats what i did, cuz i don't really like vista either )

So I've upgraded to Vista 32 today

I can now compare the 2 OSes, one with GSdx9, the other with GSdx10 on a Geforce 8800GTS.
The overall image quality is greatly improved with GSdx10, all those small Z-Buffer bugs are completely gone.
Also the framerate is much more consistant, games with heavy slowdown under GSdx9 now run near full speed.
Xenosaga especially stands out as it has a 3-4 times higher framerate

Overall the Vista overhead takes some 5% speed from games that already run well with GSdx9.
These games are also faster with WinXp, if only a few fps.

So you did a terrific job at improving the already good GSdx9, Gabest.
Games are really way more enjoyable with GSdx10, thank you!

GSDRvZPII: Graphical Glitches

Versions since 0.1.3 have caused some graphical glitches in GSDRvZPII's menus. There should not be shadows in the background of the four panels nor should the letters (A/B) have unusual textures. All previous versions of GSdx9 and GSdx10 do not have this problem, and ZeroGS 0.97.1 does not show up with these either.

(Also, somehow this menu and the in-game particle effects, i.e. explosions, have slowed down significantly after this update. Though somehow the testing of versions prior to 0.1.3 failed to regain the speed it once had for some odd reason.)

It does. OpenGL 3.0 should support geometry shaders and other features that DX10 does.

Yup, OpenGL is a completely different beast to Direct3D. Sure, there is equivalent functions, but there is a whole different methodology when it comes to things (such as in OGL, there is no need to lock/unlock surfaces or buffers)...

Bug and glitches are commons for any work in progress (w.i.p.) project/application/program/software It's an unfinished product so expect to see lots of them in games! By the way, my previous comment was a tease/joke if you didn't notice by now.

The problem there is probably your Pentium D processor, it's bottle-necking your peformance.

in onimusha 2, the personages do not appear during the game, but they appear in the cutscenes, in the version dx9 appears normally, but she runs well slower than in dx10, the same thing happens in some times in rumble roses. how I correct this?

Hmmm. This plugin didn't seem to work for me. I just got a "GS failed to load" error (I'm now on Vista x64 and DX10 is installed and working perfectly since I can run Crysis without trouble)
