Yeah, the MX series of cards do not have any kind of Pixel Shaders so you're only choice is to use gsdx9 in "Fixed Pipeline" Mode.
This is from someone (Me) that bought a Geforce MX4000 before and had to upgrade to an FX 5500 to be able to play any kind of games at all, including PC games. From experience I can tell you the MX4000 does not support any kind of Pixel/Vertex Shaders and is a fairly old and outdated card. Whatever source you got that said the MX4000 had Pixel/Vertex Shading of any kind is Wrong. Don't bother trying Zerogs, as that will only work on Pixel/Vertex Shading 2.0 Capable video cards (Geforce FX 5200 or Radeon 9500 or Better) You're best bet is to upgrade to at least a Geforce FX 5200 (A Geforce 6800 or better with a Dual core CPU is reccomended for PCSX2 in order for any kind of an enjoyable experience) or Better if you want to use gsdx9 with Pixel Shading or Zerogs, else you will suffer from extremely slow and unplayable framerates and Severly Degraded/Miscoloured/Corrupted graphics ingame

I don't know where you think you saw info on your card having pixel shaders, but I can guarantee you it doesn't.
