Is the fps of pcsx2 low because of weak computers, or (please don't take this the wrong way) "weak" codeing? Like, are the game loading so slow because the emulatior is buggy and not sure how to proccess the game; if so, wouldn't the sound not drop the fps?

im not sure, but i think there are a lot of optimizations left to make, but they want to have very high compatibility before worrying about speeding it up, someone else can probably give you a better answer though

imho i don't think there is a PC on earth right now that can run a PS2 emulater at full speed running a real game.

.... It's not about "weak" coding the pcsx2 is not a simple emulator to program, hell coding the sound plugin really isn't simple. as stated before the only slowdown you may notice with pcsx2 is when the emulator and spu2 do the write commands to the buffer other than that there should be no slowdown. Also VDDZ try posting your question about pcsx2's coding to the right thread next time this thread has to do with the spu2 sound nothing more.

really Kanodin you should even respond to this questions...about "weak" coding ...
i think its ok that you develop your plugin, but why do want do have the thread here?
IMO until the plugin is released there isnīt any constructive response for your plugin in here, so just some strange guessing...and stop you from coding
to let people know that theres something on the PS2 sound some news submission would be enough
but thats just my opinion

Well, the team and I decided to post some progress of what we have, to let you know that a (spu2 plugin) is coming, besides I feel it's polite to answer peoples questions about the plugin.

Well firstly PCSX2 is not weakly coded, if you'd ever taken a look at the source code you'd know this Also, PCSX2 is not complete so why waste any time on optimizations when its much more constructive to optimize at a later time. Also, I don't believe the slowdown from the SPU2 plugin will be any greater than 1FPS maximum. I've tryed to structure it so that the complex functions are mostly at SPU2 initialization(PCSX2 startup), so the framerate loss is very low and remains minimal throughout the entire runtime. Also, it was a team decision to post this topic, and I believe that while a few may not care until there's sound, there are those who would like to know that PS2DXA is called Ps2sP, has a new team, and is being rewritten. Also to all those who care, we're working as fast as possible to get this plugin out, so stay tuned.

Hi, I'm new to this very interesting message board.

What method will you use for sound, Hle or Lle?

Good luck with your great project Kanodin, you can do it.

You are right Kanodin, good luck to you, Elly and Zenogais, and of course thanks for this solid team's dedication.

Btw, what are you implementing now in your plugin, sound, music or tracks?

That's great, Kanodin, but to have coded the Spu part of the Ps2 so fast:

a) You and your team are very talented people. (I'm sure).
b) It's not that hard to emulate it. (I doubt it).
c) There is a lot of info regarding the Ps2's Spu interface. (I doubt it).
d) Perhaps the Ps2's Spu is the same as the Ps1. (Perhaps).

IMHO,

Maxx77.

well

A. You're right the team is quite talented

B. You're quite wrong the spu2 is hard as hell to emulate luckily

C. We do have some good documentation on it

D. No the ps2 has 2 Cores not just one stand alone spu unit, these cores control all operations, has 48 voice channels instead of 24 voice channels such as the ps1 spu.

hope this answers your questions.
