GSdx and DX10 + Vista

I recently installed Vista. I checked my dxdiag and it said the version was DX10. I got the latest GSdx and set it to hardware DX10: crash. Game is Code Veronica. Works fine with DX9, though. How do I know if my DX10 is the latest? I checked windows site and the runtime for DX says it upgrades only DX9.0c and earlier. Where is the DX10 upgrade?

Well, regardless of what that said, can you please post your plugin config and your graphics card? Jus' for the heck of it. Did you install the plugin correctly too?

If you are running Vista, then you are running some version of DirectX 10. However, your video card might not support DX10 and then it will only use the features that are available(such as taking the DX9.0c code path). As Mkilbride2588 asked, what graphics card do you have?

If you have a DirectX 10 compatible video card make sure that you have d3dx10_36.dll in your PCSX2 directory or it will crash.

EDIT:

If this is still your system, then you do not have a DirectX 10 capable video card.

He said his Dxdiag says he has it, or so, so that's why I asked.

Well I didn't see his specs, so yeah, it's not DX10 compat.

I have Nvidia GeForce 8800GT (PCIe 2.0). I got the Windows runtime dx update and it works now, even though the DX version is still the same. I guess I just needed an update.

One more thing. Does anyone know how to increase game GAMMA? I have the latest Vista Nvidia forceware drivers, but changing the color settings has no effect. I guess it's yet another Vista issue. Does anyone know if there is a built-in (GSdx or other emulator portion) gamma increase option? Any way besides Nvidia settings to adjust Gamma?

And while I'm here, how do I make the main character not "motion blur" so much when he moves? It's like it's slow motion (not slow, though) from the matrix when the character moves. You can see his previous position for a few milliseconds after he moves, like there is a "ghosting" effect like in the Matrix that is used to show someone moving really fast without actually slowing it down.

Vista dxdiag says dx10 regardless of card since thats the version installed. If he has the runtimes installed, then the only other reason for crashing can be that he runs SSSE3 version of gsdx without a core 2 duo.

Kot: play around with the interlacing options, some games run in interlaced modes which may look like motion blur. Use whichever deinterlace mode that looks the best to you.

As for gamme, just crank it up on your monitor and not on your videocard drivers. I think those are only for the video decoding engine.

Do I need to restart the PCSX2 program for the interlacing options to come into effect? I tried changing them around and did not notice any changes.

it doesn't work for your chipset, integrated graphics doesn't have dx10 unless its a notebook.

To make things simpler for everyone:
Any card from NVidia that's <8000 does NOT have it!
Any card from ATi that doesn't begin with HD* does NOT have it!

I'm, don't know if any other brands support dx10, and if so, which models. :P

For anyone interested, there's a mirc script which converts "/me 's" into " * nickname's whatever" and adds a nice "/my" command.

I've read some Intel Integrated GPU's lately have DX10...I have no idea why, because a Integrated GPU couldn't really handle DX10.

Well having dx10 support is better than not having it, EVEN if it's too slow to be usable.

Really? To me, to have it THERE, but be to slow to use, seems more of like an annoyance. Imagine if you had a super awesome looking car, but could ONLY DRIVE it 5-10 Miles an hour.

But you can drive your mediocre to good looking Car at blazing speeds. :P

I'd rather not have the support, as the option wouldn't be there(It's a pet peeve) so I wouldn't keep trying it out hoping for the best, but always disappointed.

Would you rather not have a 1080p display if you don't have any movies nor a powerful enough videocard to run games at that resolution?

I'd pick more options, even knowing that I can't fully use them: it's a taste of things to come, and gives a better experience at what I should get in the future. Besides, igps are too slow for gaming anyway, so it doesnt matter if they support shader 2, 3 or 4.

But the X3000 has hardware acceleration unlike other igps, so it isnt completely useless, and can even run some older titles fine. Even if its not designed for Crysis, but then again, nothing can run that horribly coded piece of **** well.

GSdx does not support frame-skipping, so that was to be expected.
