Windows XP doesn't come with the newest DX by default.
If someone is building it for you, then they MIGHT update it to the latest directx. How are we supposed to know if YOUR pc will have the newest DirectX? The safest thing to do is: once you get the pc get the web installer which is SMALL, and try to install it. If you needed a new directx, it will update it from the internet, else it will do nothing.

Sorry, you don't make sense.

SSE4 is only available in the newest Intel CPUs, E8400 and up.
SSSE3 is only available in the Core2 CPUs.

GSdx 0.1.8 have new problem with video in some games, for example Disgaea 2 (SLUS_213.97). Such impression that video goes with refresh rate 10Hertz(with any interlasing mode), it occurs ONLY if is chosen GSdx 0.1.8+spu2ghz b1.9r2

Q6600 doesn't have SSE4.1, it's that simple

Because it only supports x86, x86-64, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3... next time do a better research, 1 minute on google and I found it.

Didn't i just say only the newer (8400 and up) models have SSE4 a few posts back? That DOES mean the Q6600 (6600 < 8400) isn't included.

Hi, I found a bug in 0.1.8 with Haunting Ground in DX10.
My CPU is an AMD X2 5600 and video card is a Geforce 8800GS 384MB. I am using the SSE2 version. Every time I try to run it, I get "Pcsx2.exe has stopped working". Here are the crash details for pcsx2 0.9.4:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: pcsx2.exe
Application Version: 0.0.0.0
Application Timestamp: 4739fd05
Fault Module Name: nvwgf2um.dll
Fault Module Version: 7.15.11.7516
Fault Module Timestamp: 481c0fd7
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0004d787
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: fd00
Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
Additional Information 3: fd00
Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160

The error occurs with both DirectX10 (Hardware) and (Software). It does the same thing with 0.9.5 SVN 377 also. It did not have this problem with 0.1.7, although 0.1.7 had its own graphics bugs, the game was playable.

Your problem seems to be with the NVidia drivers. Make sure both your directx and the drivers are updated to the latest versions.

Do you have all of said DLL's for the program that are posted on the front page, and did you unpack them in the correct file?

Now for my complaint: Does anyone know how to get DX10 to work? I keep getting some cabinet file error. :/

Note: I'm on a laptop and my graphics card might not be up to snuff ( NVIDAI GeForce Go 6100 ) but I'm not quite sure. I looked, kind of, but I couldn't find a definitive yes / no answer.

I should also note I'm running Vista; I just bought this computer early so I don't know if it shipped with DX10 or not, and sadly can't figure out how to check. The DX folder on this computer is empty. :/

The extra plugins that you don't support ( there are three, sse2, ssse3, and sse4 ) should be deleted. So if you're using SSE2 for example delete the other two plugins if you unzipped the file and left them there.

You can't have all three ( only what your system supports ) plugins in that folder to my knowledge.

it's giving me a "Error Opening GS Plugin" when I load a iso, with ZERO gs plugin works fine so I hope this is the right place to post it. I tried both the 0.17 and 0.18 versions and all the variants (SSE2, SSSE3, SSE4) but it doesn't work. The strange thing is that till yesterday it worked just fine :\

PC info:
CPU: Q9450 @3.4ghz
GPU: XFX Nvidia GeForce 9800GX2 (latest drivers)
RAM: 4Gb
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
Last DirectX (as per first post in this thread) installed and DLL copied also to the PCSX2 main folder.

I don't know what I should try to make it work again :\

1. Delete all Plug-ins except SSE4, your CPU supports it
2. remove the dll's from folder that you copied before, if you did Directx web update you don't need them.
