AndreaB, you asked silly questions... Why are new cars better than old car? Why is the shark king of the sea/ocean? Why is Intel faster than amd? Get the point now? Didn't you not know that pc aren't designed to purposely play ps2, gamecube, xbox, etc.? Which is why we have emulators and plugins to tries and emulate things as precisely as possible, thus required demanding hardwares.

OK, I understood what do you mean. You jast can't realise one thing. You can't compare PS2 and PC hardware. if only PC can execute PS2 games code, then yeah, GF3 and PII would be enough. But PC architecture and PS2 code are inconmpatible. So at first emulater has to emulate PS2 system on PC. It needs additional resourses + resourses to execute "converted" code... So PC needs much higher perfomance level to properly emulate PS2. DX10 has some features which can help in improoving speed. Some operations could be done in less time then DX9. It's like using SSE1&2&3 etc. instructions. It used to reduce amount of cycles CPU has to do for executing some part of code. The same thinh with dx...
PS. Sorry for my english...

he doesnt seem to realisze that the PC CANT to the same things as PS2 THATS why u use "magic" software called Emulator ( PCSX 2 here)
this emulator looks what PS2 would do and then "transforms" those actiosn to "Pc compatible" actions like:
Display a Window with nice colors or some sound output..

Get it? PC has to trans form hardware toperations ( PS2 hardware) to PC Hardware. And since those hardwares differ QUITE A LOT and high level API like dx 10 is comfortable.

my thinking was different.
Do you remember UltraHle? it was able to run n64 games at high speed on a p2 300 and Voodoo1.

Some emulators emulates every instruction ( like mame for example) other emulates the cpu and emulate the vide processing at higher level. they just understand the code of the target platform and then do the same things in pc hardware ( i don't know if it is called INTERPRETER ).

I was asking if pcsx2 graphic is completely an emulation or if it would possible to make a different approach. ( i intend it is only for understaing, i'm not saying it is better )

For example the cassic blur effetc for ps2, can be emulated pixel per pixel or instruction by instruction, or simply execute the dx9-10 instruction to activate blur.

so i was asking, the pcsx2 graphic emulation require powefull hardware beacuse of its accurate emuation or beacuse gabest choose to use shaders for calculate something directly on the GPU? ( lowering cpu usage but requiring a lot of shader power)

i was only curios. i follow emulation from a lot of years i know what it means.

It also had a VERY low compatibility rate and only ran certain games as well as it did.

People have been saying that Gsdx10 is faster than Gsdx9, but for me it's the other way around. On my system, Gsdx10 is always around 40% slower than Gsdx9 even at a lower internal D3D resolution. On Gsdx9 (1600x1600), I consistently get 40-60 FPS in FF12, but with Gsdx10 (1024x1024), I'd be hard pressed to just get 40.

My system:
Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 3.2 GHz
4 GB DDR2-800
Radeon 3850 @ 720/900
Vista Ultimate x64
PCSX2 0.9.4 x86, Gsdx9 0.113, Gsdx10 0.113

Is Gsdx10 only faster on certain configurations? Because it's certainly MUCH slower for me.

Angry

Finally, I have kept the version 0.11.2 because devil may cry 3 and 1 are better emulate.

I did not see big change of fps with 0.11.3, I try Okami, Bujingai, Hokuto no ken, tekken 4, rtype final, mortal kombat armageddon, DMC 1,2 and 3, resident evil 4, devil kings, Shadow Of The Colossus, Chaos Legion, Virtua Fighter 4 and Evolution same fps that 0.11.2 for me

.... and dragon ball Z budokai 3 is more slow.

Sword Of Berserk have bugs graphics in the enemy jauge, see to up of the screen.

onimusha dawn of dream problem graphic in the menu.

.................................................. ..........................

(excuse me for my english .... once again )

Funny Proxy1. Your not the only person who has said that with a 3850. I'm pretty sure I've seen 2 other threads where people with 3850 have had a decrease in performance upgrading there gpu , and they weren't pcsx2 n00bs either and members of the forum for well over a year. Maybe there's something peculiar about the card. Maybe the card has to be configured in a certain manner?

perhaps the Radeon HD 3xxx drivers just need to mature.

I'm actually using more mature drivers than what's released to the public. I work at ATI

Maybe Gsdx10 simply doesn't work nicely with the 3850/3870? I don't know...

First of all i want to thank gabest for this brilliant plugin.
I tested Dbz tenkaichi 3. It runs above full speed ( 60+ fps) and looks very good. I think that this is twice the gdx9 speed. Its so fast that i use 40 fps limit it to make it playable, or 1600x1200 (and above) d3d resolution.
Rendering looks perfect except of a glow around the characters that looks like drunk effect!!
If there is a way to fix it,please let me know.

hahaha maybe you should ask someone in house then? the plugin is opensource so it's possible they could figure it out. (although i doubt they'd invest "official company time" in the issue)

Certainly not an option. Driver team is busy enough as it is.
