That's quite low. In native res I get around 20 fps. Having the same e6600 and 8600gt, just in a desktop.

an 8600m gt is a bit slower than a 8600 gt

and if he mean a t7700 with 2,4 ghz - this cpu performs slower than a e6600

Hmm is it ok to ask, what do you think about coding the DX10 plugin? I'm curious cuz this is the first time I see any plugin / emulator coder code using DX10. Does it have some potential for emulation scene or will it only provide one or two small benefits in special cases? How familiar have you gotten with the changes/addons in DX10 etc?

It's not radically different from dx9, the new features are easy to learn. Already waiting for dx11 because there are still a few unsolvable issues

Yea, just trying something to speed up soul calibur 2. It makes the gs upload about 60 megs/frame texture data to the video card because of region repeat texture addressing, going to implement this in the pixel shader now. I hope it works out well.

edit: now it runs 5x faster, 20-25 fps too bad gsdx9 cannot use integers in the shader.

edit2: I was testing through remote destop first, it actually runs at max speed (gpu-wise) at 27 fps when fighting. 60-70% cpu usage.

Omg This Works With Ffx
averaging 45fps
how do i increase this
should i overclock cpu or graphic card?
does 4gb ram make a difference?

Look at the CPU usage at the title bar. If it's below 90% you need a better cpu, if above a better graphics card. Not always true, but mostly.

@Gabest.

And what if it jump from 60 - 99% or inbetween, I sometime get this but i don't really pay attention to this, I pay attention to the fps the most instead of playing the game Gabest, according to you how much faster is GSdx10 compared to GSdx9? You can give me a rough estimation on the average, lowest, highest fps gains? And does it vary in different game or is it the same on every/most game? Thanks.

As you say it varies. With dx10 I can solve a few things which require extra rendering passes in gsdx9. The FBA effect and now this region repeat mode, if these are heavily used the game can slow down a lot.

I get 65-80fps in KH 2 with gsdx10 using Ati HD 3875. But this doesn't work with radeon x1750?

There you have your answer. x1000 series cards are only dx9 compliant. Use gsdx9 11.2

I just picked up an 8600GT the other day to test out GSdx10 and DX10 games. On my machine GSdx10 was a few fps faster. GTA:VCS seemed a little smoother as did Devil May Cry 2 but FFXII was roughly the same. I still have to test FFX but I think I'll end up with a slight boost.

so, please let me understand something....

Ps2 is old hardware but it need directx10 features... because....

1) you are trying to emulate the behavour of the ps2 graphic chip entirely on the GPU, so advanced gpu programmabilty is required , so it is required ps 3.0 and directx10 that is more shader oriented.

2) also newer GPU are more shader oriented , maybe nvidia 8000 series is more like a lot of parallel shader processor than the predecessors that had fixed texture unit and shader unit. And so you have just a separate cpu to emulate the GS.

3) the ps2 had some advanced effect that only now are available on our gpu.

wich of the above is correct? let me understand.
My new 8800gt is arriving and i'm going to install vista only for pcsx2...

will ever dx10 come to xp?

No.

Because DX10 using different architecture that Vista have (core and memory manager and Microsoft knows what else).

If someone want Dx10 in XP then he must put Vista core into XP, then memory manager etc. After this he must test it a lot if it is works and add/modify libraries etc a do this again. After few month/years he will ends with hybrid OS - Windows Vista with Windows XP look (and without Vista applications) where he can install DX10. But this hybrid OS will be incopatible with many old (XP only) applications/games like Vista is now and will be incopatible with applications that require normal Windows Vista for running.
Do you think that this someone will do?

Install Vista is more easy isn't it? :-)

Everyone, who understand russian, read this article - Возможна ли поддержка DirectX 10 на Windows XP?. There will NEVER be a DX10 for XP. And forgot about this stupid project, don't listen this kid.. Relax, you have to use vista if you really need DX10.. But as for me, the only reason to use vista only if you need DX10 - is GSdx10.. Cause there is no VGA that can let you enjoy playing PC DX10 games with high framarate.. So think about it, maybe you don't need dx10 and XP is enough?

Tried this in gsdx9 using lookup textures, but overall things got slower. SC2 is still a lot faster, but it's not worth it. Using ps 4.0 there is only a very small performance hit, but nearly the same code (+lookups) runs much slower on the same hardware with ps 2.0/3.0.

my main question was"why DX10 features are best for pcsx2?"

PS2 was in the years of xbox1 and we are sepaking about Geforce3 TI500 hardware for graphic on the XOBX1, very different on ps2 but similar capabilities.

I think that directx9 and directx8 are good to obtain the same effects of a ps2 video processor... why we are using directx 10?

Because Gabest is emulating every single instruction of the ps2 video chip and he needs a programmable gpu? or there is some other reason?

i mean... texture sizes shouldn ot be a problem ( we have a lots of ram on our gpus ) polygon count also is ridicolous, also post processing is nothing special...
Why our dx9 powerful gpu (7900 and 7800 are powerfull gpu i think ;p ) are slowing down?
