I provide the logs because I have no clue if they actually mean anything, and they may mean something to you

I got it!That screen says I don't have enough space on my hard drive, which is not true, but thats also what it says for the official PS2 according to other sources. How I finally installed RE:O on 3rd party HDD without DMS3! Note to Nherve: It works with both IRQ timing at 0x6A and IRQ timing at 0x100 |

Bonjour NHervé, great work on the plugins hope they'll get even better ![]() Yet some games don't install in HDLoader, they hang right after you choose a name for the game (i'm using a fixed-timings pcsx2). So i took a look at the DEV9Log and it seems that it is looping.... here is the loop: Code:
DEV9readDMA8Mem size 2048 _DEV9irqHandler DEV9read16 at address 10000028, value 0003 DEV9read16 at address 1000004E, value 0040 DEV9read16 at address 1000004E, value 0040 DEV9write8 at address 1000002C, value 01 DEV9write8 at address 1000002E, value 01 DEV9write16 at address 10000038, value 0003 DEV9read16 at address 10000064, value 004F DEV9write16 at address 10000064, value 004F DEV9write16 at address 10000032, value 0086 DEV9read16 at address 1000005C, value 0040 DEV9read16 at address 1000004C, value 0040 DEV9read16 at address 1000005C, value 0040 DEV9write16 at address 1000005C, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000042, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000044, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000046, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000048, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 1000004A, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000042, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000044, value 0002 DEV9write16 at address 10000046, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 10000048, value 0000 DEV9write16 at address 1000004A, value 0034 DEV9write16 at address 1000004C, value 0040 DEV9write16 at address 1000004E, value 00C8 DEV9write8 at address 1000002C, value 01 DEV9write8 at address 1000002E, value 00 DEV9read16 at address 10000038, value 0003 DEV9read16 at address 10000002, value 0011 DEV9write16 at address 10000024, value 0006 triggerIRQ cause=0002, cycles=100 DEV9readDMA8Mem size 2048 _DEV9irqHandler ... Hope it'll be of any help.. Oh and this loop is the EXACT same with any game that hangs at this screen. Take care

Thanks for this log, but I don't think it's a loop. Here, HDLoader is simply reading various sectors. MiKE41 : if your game says there's not enough HDD space, that's normal. The log indicates me that, for a reason I don't know, it sends the "identify device" command to the HDD, but never reads the HDD identification data. As these data contain the HDD sector number, the game can't know the size of the HDD, and will assume that its size is 0, hence the error.

Hello ^^ my first forum entry yay ^^ to the point I tried to install FFX-International (and some other games) with HDloader and if possible with the game itself (FFX won't show me the install button no matter what i do Oo) so i came back to the HDloader thingy (which i used for the first time... i have a slim ps2) HDloader formatted nicely i set the plugin to 8GiB and there were 8GiB only 6 accessable but that won't kill me right now XD but when i tried to install a game (doesn't matter which) the cdplugin (doesn't matter which plugin) reads a few sectors and stops... Code:
DvdRead: Reading Sector 16(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x DvdRead: Reading Sector 257(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x DvdRead: Reading Sector 261(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x DvdRead: Reading Sector 2655(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x DvdRead: Reading Sector 2655(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x DvdRead: Reading Sector 2655(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x DvdRead: Reading Sector 16(1 Blocks of Size 2064) at Speed=4x MapUserPhysicalPages failed to unmap, error 87. EDIT: alright i thought maybe i had done something wrong thanks for the quick answer and GREAT plugin^^ Last edited by KabooZ; August 17th, 2008 at 16:14.. |

That's normal, current PCSX2 version has a CDVD timing bug. bositman has a WIP version where rama2 has fixed this bug, allowing to install games. Anyway, you can just install games but not boot them.

Even though the swapping seemed to go well, the boot disc in ps2linux would just keep saying "wrong disc". I never managed to get that problem fixed.

Please, I need help : some programs require a Sony HDD, but I don't have such a HDD. So, if you've a Sony HDD, then write here absolutely everything that's written on your HDD. Thanks in advance.

Pffff... Again a n00b who : 1- can't speak English correctly, 2- asks stupid questions instead of reading the instructions, 3- gets banned after a ridiculous number of posts.

The official Sony HDD is acually a Maxtor 2F040L0, 40 GB, UDMA/133, 5400 RPM, 2 MB cache, 12.0 ms avg. seek time, IDE interface, and 3.5-inch form factor. The drive is also used in some TiVo units. ED: 16383 Cylinders |

SmackdownVsRaw : Read the first post before asking ! DEV9 is the expansion bay of the PS2. If you don't have a PS2, you can't get it working right, as PS2 HDD programs need a complete BIOS dump for their HDD function to work correctly. KabooZ : if you know C, first download the PCSX2 plugin specs. These specs are 2 include files that contain everything that's needed to create a plugin for PCSX2. If you want to help me, download the sources of my plugin, try to find as much documentation as possible about DEV9, download PS2SDK sources, and send me the improved code snippets through PM.
