Well, hdloader.elf recognizes the hdd. From there it can be formated, you can install games (needs the cdvd timing fix), and it correctly reads the installed games list. However, when you want to start the installed game, hdloader requests a ps2 restart. Never recovers from that and hangs

You're right, rama2. Again a bug to fix for the PCSX2 team. MIKE41 : it's because the Idle command isn't implemented. I'll implement it.

I tried that, it doesn't work. When I launch the Worms 3D I've copied, I get black screen and high framerate. I also tried a lot of other options like Slow HDD access, same result.

Normal : it doesn't work with the current version. Wait for a new SVN version. Anyway, you must load the BOOT.ELF file of your HDLoader disc with "Load ELF" option, having your game in your drive and a CDVD plugin configured right.

I've loaded the .elf file. HDloader loads up fine, formatted drive, and when I use Gigaherz plugin with disk in drive, I try to install to HDD but it say not a valid PS2 disk. I don't know if i'm doing something wrong or if it something else.

Player594 : You must already have your game in your drive before launching HDLoader. And I recommend you to use EFP polling or PEOpS, they're more stable. And, as rama2 says, you can't launch the games you installed, there's a bug in the emu. EDIT : some news... I've modified my plugin so it'll fill the HDD image with zeroes up to the selected size, just after having created it. I've mounted my image with MountImage Pro and tested HD Handiness, it worked fine, but WinHIIP didn't. It said "HDL settings file is corrupt". EDIT2 : seems that FFX and the sony tool want an official Sony HDD. They seem to use funcs that are identical to PS2SDK ones, but with some more code to check if the HDD is a sony model.

It's possible, but I must find the Official Sony HDD tool first... That would be great if you could give me some download link. I'll search for it. Anyway, I'm almost the FFX problem is a timing problem... The game calls the "Identify device" command, then aborts due to bad timings.

Thanks ! EDIT : I just read the log, the game reads the EEPROM 2 times... it seems the problem is because I don't emulate EEPROM.

That's probably it ![]() I also found evidence that Final Fantasy X-2 International supports HDD (At least, the HDD plugin is present on the disc) Edit: Unfortunately I can't read japanese, theres no greyed out options in the config menu... the dev9.log is extremely short in comparison to confirmed HD using apps, and the HDD file is still 0 bytes Code:
DEV9init DEV9init OK DEV9open DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9close DEV9shutdown Edit3: again, super short log, no data written to HDD file, no ingame indication that the HDD is supported... install option on main menu as seen in the PSBBN guide I linked a couple posts back was not found. Code:
DEV9init DEV9init OK DEV9open DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 DEV9read8 at address 1F80146E, value 32 Last edited by MiKE41; August 16th, 2008 at 23:07.. |

Are you sure you've enabled HDD support ? If you can't read Japanese, I'm not sure you did :P The reg your game reads is the DEV9 revision, the game doesn't even try to know if there's a HDD.

It was just a guess that they used the HDD. The file that provides HDD support for PS2 programs is called ATAD.IRX (I know this because the Matrix Infinity modchip has an option to auto patch it, so that it no longer runs the firmware check)... These games had the ATAD.IRX file, but I cannot find any evidence that they actually use the HDD anywhere on the internet.

So why do you provide logs if you're not sure ? To be sure, if a game gives "super short logs" as you said, it DOESN'T support the HDD.
