P64 1.6 & .v64 compatability ?

Sorry for my ignorance if this post has been done before, I haven't used a N64 emulator in a long time but as far as I remember it ran .V64 files before.

I'm using Project 64 Version 1.6 and I'm trying to open the ROM "Super Mario 64.v64"

Which results in the error -

"File loaded does not appear to be a valid Nintendo64 ROM.

Verify your ROMs with GoodN64"

Is this a compatability issue? If not, what's the work-around? Lastly, what is "GoodN64"?

you may have a bad dump, re dump your rom,

OR

Open the emu
Options, settings
Uncheck hide advanced options
Shell tab and check all file extensions.

as for good 64 read this
when you get on site,

click utilities, for roms

Thanks for the fast reply.

None of these were checked before, they are now, but I still have the same problem. The ROM's icon is now the PJ64 icon though, so I guess it recognizes it atleast, but still the same error.

I doubt its a compatibility issue with Mario 64

The newest public version is 1.6 with an updated .rdb
Make sure you are using jabo's plugin, sound and graphics.

Start the emulator
File
Choose rom directory
Browse to where you stored your rom/ your rom's folder, click ok.
On the emulator's gui you should see mario 64.

Now

Look at what the notes say,if its compatible it should say that.
If its a bad dump, then it would say that.

You can double click on the roms on the gui to play them.

I think that you got a bad dump of the game and need to re dump it,
or try re downloading the emulator again.
