PJ1.7 is coming along very nicely. It has improved on sound issues, graphical issues, and speed is usually better for most games, but sometimes slower in others. Overall though, it is a HUGE improvement, and worth the donation to test it out. You'll also have close contact with the Emu creators so that you can give them suggestions, get support, etc. It was well worth my $20 donation, and I'm actually so impressed, I've been considering giving another $20 donation soon.

Do they give frequent updates to the 1.7 beta for paying members or is it just one beta from a year ago, GaveUpTomorrow? If it's a beta version from a long time ago, I'm sure that the progress is way better now than what the beta testers have tested.

They release a newer core and newer plugins each time they make the emulator a little better. The core isn't released as often, but a newer core was released a couple of months ago. Smiff just informed us that a newer version will be released soon, and some more versions coming soon as well, fixing most of the "big" problems that are still in PJ64. The next few months should mark some big updates. The plugins are released all of the time, as Jabo gives us a new build of his video plugin every time he he finishes it.

Basically, we pretty much get access to the newest changes as they work them out....we just don't get the files when they are currently working on finishing up whatever area they are working on. Its really nice actually

Thats awesome! Thats what i wanted to know.. because i really like this emulator. The coding is very tight and it runs hella good on my rig.. I ran it on a TNT2 a few months ago before i got my new computer and it still ran about full speed.. It handles memory very well and i really like some of the plugins i have.
I really want to support it ( not to mention test out 1.7 because a handful of games just don't run right, like mario party 1 and yoshis island - which might be plugin issues, i dunno ) but overall i want to sink my teeth into the program. I tried Jnes, ahah and i like that emualtor as well.. these guys are pretty good at what they do. So i may try to convince my girlfriend to let me use her paypal account later LOL... We have one for buisness ( hazelingerie.com a clothing store i own ) and it's in her name because of my *****ed up credit sooo i think it would be cool. I don't mind paying for software or helping out like this, if it a genuine piece of good work. Like Pj64 is. It's right up there with 1964 well i think it has surpassed 1964 in all aspects.. well on my system. Last year on my p3 1ghz TNT2 1964 may have run just a tad faster but i can't tell now that i have somewhat of a "normal" system.. It's impressive. Along with the gamecube emulation things are going along nicely i must say.. Someone should look into emulating a wii ahaha thats probably years away right? Usb port of a wii nunchuck with custom drivers? ahaha =D Anyways thanks for the replies everyone... really helped me out..

I never liked 1964 myself...and when I first tried PJ64 out (back when it was 1.3, or 1.4 I believe), I've never gone to another N64 emulator. I liked it so much, I decided to donate. Also, you don't even need a paypal account to transfer the money, as you can use a one time payment and be done with it. If you don't want to use your credit card/debit card at all though because of bad credit, thats understandable. Hopefully there should be some interesting progress with the emulator soon, so it may be a perfect time to join There may still be issues with the Mario Party games to some degree, but if they aren't fixed already, they have plans on fixing them. I can't remember...I'll have to test that later...

You have 300 roms? Some people have full romsets. Beat that.

Be careful when you admit something like that on this forum though.

If you don't have the original games, it means you don't have anything and you are not a real gamer.

Those are only the games that I actually own That doesn't mean I don't have a huge collection of roms to test... I only have games listed that I own, not games that I don't, and I can assure you that you really have nothing to brag about there, though I won't say one way or another what I do or do not have on this hard drive... I can say though that any game that I play and enjoy, I go out and buy at some point. For retro games, Ebay is your friend as well as your local game shops.

As for a release date, there is none at the moment, and there probably won't be for a while... Just be patient, that's all I can say... or donate $20...as that's nothing compared to the several thousand dollars you saved on not buying any n64 games

Inforce: Also, I've checked the Mario Party games should be working flawless on the current version of 1.7. There is always the chance that a problem may resurface in a new version down the road, but for now and when 1.7 officially comes, all bugs should be ironed out. A new .exe of 1.7 was just released today for donaters as well, so its as good of a time as ever to donate.

According to what I read somewhere on the Project 64 website, PJ64 1.7 is not due for a release anytime before 2008.

I would post a link to where I saw that, however at the moment I don't remember where I saw it at

Wow. 2008? They're really trying to get as much $20 donations as they can. I don't blame them though. They deserve it.

It's not so much as getting as many donations as they can, but making PJ64 as perfect as they can. The goal is that this would be the last version, and therefore everything would have to be perfect...lets not forget that they are adding in internet play before its all said and done (planing to anyways). Xtreme is right though...and although there is no official time frame for it to come out, chances are it won't come out this year....and although that's not official, I still wouldn't cross my fingers on a 2007 release . Donating $20 dollars is anyone's best bet for playing the latest version anytime soon , but collecting as many donations as possible is NOT thier goal...its to make the emulator as perfect as possible.

I would like donate $20, but seeing as how I don't have the money, Credit or Debit card or a bank account at the moment I don't see that happening as of yet.

As soon as I do, I'm going to donate to my favorite emulators like Project 64, PCSX2, and Support the Daemon-Tools team as well

Does 1.7 include an improved version of texture dumping/loading. I heard about something like that a long time ago.
