I have the same problem with Paper Mario. In my signature are my hardware specifics.

My PJ64 configuration:

Video Plugin: Jabo Direct3D8 1.6 or Rice Video Plugin 6.11 beta 10
Sound Plugin: Jabo DirectSound 1.6
Input Plugin: N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 1.82

Tip #1: Switch to Glide64, since D3D8 (and every other plugin i've tried) has massive graphical glitches. Your (Hokage) PC should be able to handle it.

Tip #2: Check your ROM with GoodN64. I can't help you on how to use, I barely get it to work for myself, but there should be a FAQ thread around these boards somewhere to help you out, and the download site has some basic instructions

Unless you have a Voodoo card, you have to use a Glide wrapper. I currently use zeckenseck's wrapper, it's an excellent piece of software
