I can't any games, and I get an error

I get this message everytime I try:

Direct3D has failed to initialize your HAL device, make sure you have a properly configured 3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0

So, what do I have to do?

I forgot to tell that this only happens in Project64k. And I have the latest driver.

try to reconfigure your gfx plugin, or try another one

Try switching your desktop to 16-bit color.

I seen this error in my friends PC when using pj64. He installed DirectX9.0a and problem solved
