Error with running F-Zero X

I've been playing F-Zero X past couple of days now and I have just beaten the Kings cup on expert level. Now when the screen is about to switch to the car slection screen. The game crashes and I get this error:

"Unhandled R4300i OpCode at: 80124000
Unknown 7C 7C 07 18

Stoping Emulation !"

I have no idea as to whats causing this. I've tried with different plugins and settings and the same error keeps happening.

I got this too. To get past it just delete your saved data and start again. It seems it only screws up once everything is unlocked.

Soo... This is a commonly known problem and there's nothing that can be done about it? Other than wiping the game data and reaching up to the point where it crashes again?

Set the self-modifying code method to Protect Memory; see if that helps. The setting is stored in the rdb, so be sure you change the game option, not the global one.

Thanks! Got a new problem though... I've been playing with using save states and well after beating Joker cup I get the credits and get a "Thanks for playing!" at the end... I tell the emulator to reset the game so that I can get access to the rest of the cars and play the X cup. When I reset, all my game data is gone. Dose P64 not battery save?

The emulator does handle native saves (as well as mempaks), so the question is, does this game in particular save your progress automatically, or are you prompted to save manually?

It's automatic saving. The only time you'll be asked to save anything would be if you get a new time on time trial. I have memcard activated on the Emu and it dosen't make any difference if it's on or off... Still not saving.

Tried using 1964 0.9.9 to see if it works there? Rename your save from PJ64 to 1964 format and copy it over.

A last-ditch workaround would be to use the 'Everything' cheat which can be found on GameFAQs (it's not an Action Replay code or anything, but a standard cheat hard-coded into the game.) It'll unlock X-Cup and all the cars so at least you can play them. Be warned, this cheat saves everytime and can't be disabled without starting all over again.

Yep, 1964 0.9.9 does save. Though the graphics seem to be a bit buggy... I'm sure it'll be good once I experiment with the settings. Thanks!
