bomberman64 problem
i have a problem with the bomberman64 rom in two places. one, the into crashes at the part where the guy is hit with the laser (but the rom can be turned off and back on again, and the game can be resumed right from where the into ends, so no big problem here...). the second problem, the one that matters, is that every level shows that all the gold cards have been found when they really havn't. it only shows them found: they aren't actually found. this isn't a problem directly with gameplay, as it is possible to get the gold cards, and the game recongnizes it, but its impossible to keep track of which gold cards have been found (other than remembering or going back to check).
i checked and made sure my rom is fine. i think its just that the game won't show transparency (the gold cards appear transparent when they have not yet been found). other parts in the game wont show transparency either, where on the cart they do. what plugin do i need/what will fix this? |

Re: bomberman64 problem
Problem 1: I reckon this is a core issue of PJ64. You can see the full intro in 1964, but I believe that PJ64 crashes due a large fire wall sweeps the screen and drops the frame rate by half in 1964.
Problem 2: This is a video plugin issue. However, as Bomberman 64 is not among the best games on the N64, it is often completely overlooked (which is a great shame, as I brought it and loved it). Glide64 has major issues with it. glN64() displays almost none of the menus. Rules those two out. You are left with Rice's Daedalus, Jabo's, and TR64 OpenGL. All these of these do a fair job, but all share the exact same issues you explained with the Gold cards in the stage select and so on. All these also mess up the intro which I think uses the framebuffer in a complex way. There is no current solution to this problem. Personally, I reckon Jabo's emulates the game the most accurately, but try all three and settle on one. |

Re: bomberman64 problem
I recollect running this game fine with Jabo's D3D plugin with my old GeForce 2 MX 400. I will check it out for you, and hit you with a screenshot if I remember correctly.
