Re: the best n64 emulator?

both pj64 and 1964 are concidered the "best". 1964 is faster, while pj64 is more compatible.

Which one is the "best" depends on what you want from it.

Re: the best n64 emulator?

Oh, and ignore the 'Use Jabo's D3D7 1.40.' When that version of 1964 was released, that was most up to date version. Since then, 1.5 and 1.5.1 have been released. Use 1.5.1 instead, as 1.40 has problems with various games (like Majora's Mask and PD in particular) You can get 1.5.1 in the link yeloazndevil provided.

I'm getting about 250-300 fps on all the smaller game dumps..... i.e. Mario 64, Armymen, and Goldeneye

>>by the way, cool name (ROMstein)

Thanks

I think that if you use pj64 with a pretty regular pc ( BY TODAYS STANDARD ) there is really not a speed issue anymore.

You can only get the D3D 7 plugin bundled with Project 64 version 1.4. I think that it is available in NGEmu's emulator archive

I would seriously recomend that you get this adaptor instead - it costs a little bit more but is of much higher quality and offers full transfer pak, rumble pak, memory pak, and even that stupid voice pak support (plus buying this supports your favourite site - NGEmu ). I have one and it was worth the money - I also use it for SNES, GBA, etc., etc.

There is no *best* N64 emulator at the moment - they all have different plusses and minuses to offer you . With a full library of Bideo and Sound Plugins, and all four of the "big" N64 emulators you should be able to play most (good) games near flawlessly.

no, your right. but then that depends on what you wouldnt call a "regular" pc. With my pc in its current state, no n64 roms can phaze it. But when i had my old xp1800 pally and gf4 440mx, every bit if speed mattered, and that's where 1964 pulled ahead.

I prefer using 1964. Most of my games run just fine in 1964, without too many bugs that I can't solve.

Project64 might be my second choice, but i've been playing with the latest version of Mupen64, and it is running great as well.
