Ok now I'm frustrated. I have downloaded at least 3 different no mercy roms and they all freeze during game play or before. The emulator isn't all that stops though the pc stops responding. I have the same problem with morrowind crashing and freezing. I get no error message just a freeze and I have to reset the pc manually. Does anyone know what to do? I believe it's a hardware or windows issue. My system specs are below: AMD Duron 1.3 Ghz 384mb sdram GeForce 2 mx400 13.9 gb hdd windows 98se pj64 1.5, and 1.4 with sp1 installed What can I do to fix my problem. PS. I checked in the device manager and the devices are all working properly so I don't THINK it's an IRQ prob. If it is I need major help. Thanks in advance |

I suggest you don't put download and rom in the same sentence next time ![]() Even though you got it from 3 different places, doesn't mean that the dump would be different. Use the GoodN64 tool to determine if they actually are different, and make sure a [!] is next to thje scanned filename. Or are there other bugs in the emulator I'm not aware about? |

Re: wwf no mercy freezes computer
First GoodN64 them to see if they might be bad ROMs (I believe that a lot of bad dumps exist for that game), then try and use another emulator (like 1964 or Nemu64). If they still don't work then, if you are willing to take the time, reeinstall windows and get the newest drivers for everything in your system. If the Device manager doesn't report any problems than it isn't an Device conflict issue, so don't worry about that. Morrowind froze randomly for me too, Getting more RAM and doing a Windows re-install fixed it (I also got the newest drivers for my GeForce 2) You should also prolly migrate to Windows XP, it is faster and more stable than Windows 98, and your computer can handle it (although you might want a bigger Hard-Drive). Good Luck

Ok I got XP installed today and no mercy still crashes. I haven't tried good n64 yet(where do I get it?) I found though that my sound card and video card share irq 11 with the modem..could be a problem. I'll email microsoft or something about the irq thing. Thanks for all your help.

Re: wwf no mercy freezes computer
For GoodN64: http://shell2.lomag.net/~rareroms/ra...N64_0_9999.zip Also, what graphics plugin are you using? Glide64+eVoodoo is better for No Mercy than Jabo's, so try that combination. |

Re: wwf no mercy freezes computer
I have a nVidia GeForce 2 mx 400 and am using Rices daedelus or something like that. I'm using open gl emulation. My problem is the game plays until about a minute or so into the match and then freezes up the comuter. I've heard sharing an IRQ is ok but not with a sound and video card. That will cause morrowind to crash as a matter of fact. hmm. I just got good n64 so I'll try that.

Re: wwf no mercy freezes computer
So you do have an IRQ conflict.... Well, that explains a lot (and sucks, I fel for you). You shouldn't be running with such a thing EVER, regardelss of what Micro$oft says (it not only lowers system performance, but can cause errors as you have discovered). Try changing the PCI slot that the sound/video card are plugged into, or remove one of them (or get an AGP vdeo car for $50). If that doesn't help you do the same thing with the modem, although I can see that you might want keept it in. Stupid modem should be designed to 'adapt' and disable itself when not in use so as to free up interrupts. Good luck to you, keep on trying... |

Re: wwf no mercy freezes computer
I have an AGP Video Card. It's a 4x. I believe the problem started when I disabled the onboard video(sis) and put in the GeForce. I think I'll remove the sound card and then the modem. Then I'll reserve the video resources and reinstall the sound and modem the same way. That may fix it.

I unistalled everything except my GeForce. Now when I wanna play PJ64 or Morrowind I just have to disable my modem or uninstall it temporarily(damn thing keeps going back to IRQ 3). Just a minor hastle. The sound is at least on it's own now. Thanks for all the help and support.
